Anyone else currently having trouble loading the game? Once the game fully loads, closes back to the desktop where a second, blank program window appears in the task bar. It then proceeds to basically alt-tab between the two continuously, and it's difficult to even click ANYTHING to make it stop.

Mine does this sometimes. I usually bash on the windows key a bunch of times until it finally loses focus, then alt tab back in. 15 seconds of staring at black and bam, it's working.

Weird as hell, annoying as hell, but at least you can work around it.

I've never had this problem. I've used it under XP pro and Vista x86 (business).

Did you try searching on Steam's forums?

This didn't start happening until yesterday for me. A new patch came out yesterday, but this problem didn't start until a few hours after that, so I'm not sure it's related.

I did manage to get into the game and play for a bit after this started happening. I had trouble moving sometimes, as if random keys were being pressed. I'd try to run forward and suddenly find myself running diagonally, or I'd press tab and be greeted with my friend's list (shift+tab). Things just seemed to be going a little slower or perhaps a little jumpy the whole time, too. Eventually it alt-tabbed and started doing it again.

I'm skimming through the Steam forums now, but there don't seem to be any complaints that I can see.

Wow, I guess I'm not the only one that experience this glitch. I recently installed TF2 on my laptop a few days ago and experience this odd glitch the first time I launched the game. I figured at the time that it was just my laptop acting stupid because its running Vista and figured it was Vista's security trying to ask me to me to unblock the game.

... that makes me wonder... for those of you that experienced this glitch, are you guys running Vista or XP? I ask this because my desktop computer is running XP and I have not experienced this glitch at all on the computer.

I use XP.

I restored my computer to before the latest patch today. After re-updating, it seems to be working again.

I'm running it under Wine. :)

I normally use XP though.

I've found problems like this usually trace back to some dumb c***ware app in the systray.
