Is amazing!

I watched a couple episodes when it initially came out, and was kind of bored by it. The Totally Rad Show expressed their undying passions for it on so many occasions that I eventually found it online and watched the first few episodes in order. This had me hooked, causing me to watch absolutely every episode all in one sitting.

Avatar does something unique for a children's cartoon: It doesn't lie, misconstrue, or manipulate reality to meet the needs of conservative watchdog groups. People fight, hurt innocent people, burn down villages, make death threats, and all kinds of crazy. Characters are actually able to die. This lack of speaking down to kids makes the show tolerable, and quite enjoyable for all ages.

Fight scenes are amazing, and watching Ang airbend is an animation spectacle. The magic bending of elements is not a rock paper scissors game, and the martial arts associated with each element is tried and true to a real world counterpart. Characters are complex, multi-layered, and uniquely consistent. The storylines, while somewhat predictable, do not follow a formulaic plotline, and sometimes diverge greatly from what is expected. The world is so well crafted that everything from the lore to the societies seem genuine and believable. The way the world is presented makes Chinese honor and the respect people have for the "magic" seem so realistic and believable. Comedy, however juvenile and shallow can be sometimes hilarious, even for a children's show.

My only complaints comes from the fact that the characters are trite, the voice acting is sometimes awkward, and that the story sometimes deviates and squats for too long. These parts are so minor, and so dwarfed by the positive elements that I can't possibly mark the show down too much.

Episodes 13 and 14 were just recently released, and were quite amazing. Is anyone here a fan, and if so, Were the dragons not statting amazing? Ang's wind attack on the one eyed guy almost made me fall out of my chair, it was so swift and well animated. I'm really liking the action that's been added to the last few episodes of season 3.

I'm really hoping Nick has the balls to finish the show when it needs to be finished, and not release some confusing timeline movie box set to cash in on the franchise further. They've developed the world so well that I don't think I'd mind a different Age, or an alternate storyline from Ang's time (Maybe a few prequels to show the rise of the Fire Nation in the time of Ang's disappearance?). Either way, this has been a cash cow for them, and it's going to take a smart and art-friendly program director to let the show end.

Funny, I thought it was just another over a massive set of horrible America attempts at anime.

Still do, actually.

This is one of the few animes I've actually seen and wouldn't mind seeing more of.

I never know when it's on, but I've enjoyed it since it first started.

That's possibly because it isn't anime.

The show is pretty awesome. I thought it would be a Naruto knock off. But it's pretty unique a lot of ways.

And they don't use that cookie cutter crap where the character holds still and their mouth are the only thing moving. I hate that.
My blawgh.

I've watched an episode or two. I do like the art style, even as an anime wannabe. While I understand that it's a kids show, I can't get past the voice acting and simple dialog. The young, bad dude with the scar on his face is more obnoxiously angsty than Shin from Gundam Seed Destiny. :gbk:

To me, it just feels like really dumbed-down anime, but as you said, Kirby, at least they don't censor out reality like most series. Overall, I'm glad for that fact and for a decent story, but, as for me, I'll stick with real anime. (don't read that as elitism :P)

Not really purism...if by anime you mean an animated cartoon yes, that's true. But in the traditional and realistic sense, it's not anime.

Honestly I watched it and was bored to death. I'd rather watch FMA.

At first I watched a few random episodes (I think first was "the water bending scroll") but then got drawn in and had to watch them all from the beginning. This was when they were only part way through book 1 so catching up was not difficult. I then started to tell others about the show and they got hooked as well. FINALLY a show not made to just sell toys or cards, the fight scenes are amazing and there is a few episodes with some really great dialog. Im now hooked and eagerly await the next episode (if they will eventually play it)
