I'm already excited and they haven't even started.... it better be good, let alone make it to final production.

Sorry, plans for that movie were announced some time after the game was released.

Oh well. Game movies. Heh.

I think game movies make better movies than comic book movies. Games are almost movies these days as it is. Just interactive.

Might be so, but movies based on games are still very trashy. Some of them adequately entertaining, though.

I just finished HL2 EP2. Holy ****. You can't get a better experience as far as pulling you in to the story. Such an amazing game.

Most video game movies do suck compared to the original.

The game was made entirely out of movie cliches. I'm kind of wondering how it's going to do as an actual movie. If it's something like Sin City, I could see it working.
2008-02-04, 10:57 AM #7
Yeah man if they made it in a sin city atmosphere it would be genius.

I liked FF7:AC as well as the other Final Fantasy movie.
Resident Evil movies are 'ok' but thats coming from a non-RE fan.

Hopefully it isn't as boring as the games were.

Max runs around a corner, dives, slowmo, kills three guys. Over and over and over and over again, the end.

I did play both games. :/

I don't like them because they were incredibly repetative.
2008-02-04, 2:42 PM #14
well i remember they were incredibly fun, and at the time absolutely beautiful. and the bullet time thing was something new back then. it was fun. even though it made it too easy sometimes.

I didn't say you didn't play them, and I didn't question why you didn't like them.

Just saying, it'd make a boring movie if it was just like the game.

Well, I gather the dream sequence jumping puzzle thingies might be neat to watch.

A bit old, Mark Wahlberg is already attached to the project to play the titular character.

They were repetitive, but my god... I never got tired of slowmo diving and clearing out a whole room of baddies before i hit the floor.

Even if it did get repetitive at times, the immersive atmosphere and the story kept you going. The first Max Payne is one of my all-time favorite games.

I agree though that a b-movie based on a game based on a b-movie is going to suck bad unless something truly extraordinary happens.

I think it will suck. What Max Payne does right is combining a game with a movie-like world. The relationship between gameplay and story-telling is what makes Max Payne well.. Max Payne. Taking the story apart and forcing it to walk on its own legs seem like a recipe for failure.

I doubt they'll take the actual story, they'll probably just take whatever franchise elements they believe will make the movie (= product) sell and write that up into some sort of script.

I think if they do it right it will be amazing. Set it all in one night, keep the werid bits where hes on drugs running down the hall, comic book style etc. I dont really like mark wallburg though. I think clive owen would do max payne better.
Take that there and put it in here

Clive owen sucks? He looks cool, hes a good actor, hes in cool movies and hes more of a tough guy. Mark wallburg plays **** hollywood movies like shooter and he looks nothing like max payne. not to mention he only has one emotion

You didn't enjoy Shooter? How could you not enjoy Shooter? It was awesome! I mean, the amount of destruction this hick creates is incredible. You take things too seriously, I think. Anyway, clive owen's name is Clive. Disqualified.

im not saying there is anything wrong with shooter. its a good action movie for males if you get my drift. i just thing max payne should be given more attention than movies like that since the story is a bit more thought out and it could get turned into something average when it could be a great thought provoking film.

I think you fail at life for disliking Clive Owen.
