Duke Nukem Forever will be released in late 2008

No, really this time, it seems.

Like everyone else, I'll believe it when I'm playing it, though.

Assuming it's actually released, Duke Nukem Forever better be released "unfinished" so that the developers can claim to be working on a patch to "finish" it, and thus continue for a development time that never ends. Or say that it's "episodic" or something... :ninja:

I want to see this game fail. I would smile, then feel a bit sad inside, and smile again.

Sure it will.

Doesn't matter any more, the game will fail. The wait has been so long that nothing could be worth it and people will be disappointed.

But that doesn't matter because everyone's still gonna buy it.

Or at least torrent it.

I will buy it to be ironic.

Right.

You know, it will probably be lame unless 3D Realms actually has read their own forums in the past few years. Not that dumb people would still appreciate it, but that's just their problem.

I wonder if there is actually a chart someone made showing how society progressed, including other game franchies, while this game was still being developed and re-developed as the company crossed over to different game engines re-creating the game.

I'm pretty sure they have the storyline down by now, but they seem to be fussing over making the game.

I just read that 3d Realms' George Broussard revoked this statement.

Edit: okay so they updated that story and he didn't exactly revoke it.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

THe 2001 footage is still pretty cool looking.

Even if the game isn't spectacularly graphical, if the environments allow Duke to interact with them the way he does in the 2001 trailer it could still be a pretty awesome game.

Prey was pretty good, and as I recall it's all going to be the same tech.

Yeah Prey also took 7 years to develop. I've got some faith in 3DR. We'll see.

Yeah, but they discarded their original work at some point and made the released product from scratch. Supposedly the same happened with Duke Nukem Forever... a lot of times. Hm.

i wonder what the game stores will do with all their old preorders that are probably close to a decade old? and what would they do if nobody picks it up, possibly due to moving or just plain forgeting that they have the game preordered.

They'll probably be really happy that someone bought something they never came to get and consider it a freebie on their part.
