So I was walking home from campus today and along the railroad tracks, I see a rather nice leather pouch just sitting there on the ground. Since this place if about a quarter mile from the campus, I figure it's something a college student dropped on the way to class. I pick it up to see what it is, it's an HTC PPC6800 (and it looks rather new). The battery in it is dead, of course, so I figure I'll take it home, charge it a bit, and see if I can't figure out whose it by calling someone in the phone book. No good, the phone is passworded and only allows emergency calls. So now I have no way of finding out who it belongs to. I know I'd feel if I lost a phone that costs upwards of $600 retail.
I see a few different options with this situation:
1. Try to find an unlock code and unlock the phone, call someone in the phone book, and return it to the owner.
2. Take the phone to the service provider and see if they can find the owner.
3. Take the phone as my own and use it instead of my current phone.
So what should I do?
