If this were any other semi-secretive group organizing on the internet to go up against Scientology, I'd be all for it. However, when it's the only thing people post about anymore, it gets kind of old, and the extra publicity it brings to the site can only end in tears. Also the nonsensical crap that I laugh at on the internet looks pretty lame in the context of the real world.

No, Anonymous isn't "the only thing people post about anymore," it is "the only thing people post about on 4chan anymore." 4chan being, after all, a website where they post child pornography and justify it by saying it is "anime and not real!" and "she only looks like a toddler she's only 18" and "it's not statutory rape if a tentacle is doing it." Maybe you should consider not visiting 4chan. Or better yet, consider not being the sort of person who would.
