I ran graphic intensive programs to make sure none of the RAM was DOA... seems to be working fine.. stellar even

but this is what it reads the total memory as but i put 4GB in this lol.

not sure if its a 32Bit limitation or something for using XP pro still anyone fill me on what im missing here :).

I believe you're right about it being a limitation on using 32bit os.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

yae kinda rusty on the stuff but i remeber the max memory is like 3.5GB and that includes what is being used for PCi as well. That card is 512MB so am i getting doubly screwed maybe the gfx only running at half power and the system runing 750MB short as well ><.

You won't get all 4 gigs unless you get 64bit Vista, which I would not recommend.

This is exactly why getting 4GB RAM is dumb (for 32-bit).

It's not a complete waste, especially considering RAM prices.

What's the deal with PAE? According to the Microsoft site, it seems that you need more than 4 GB for it to work, and XP 32 doesn't support more than 4 GB even with PAE.

You need to use the /PAE option in boot.ini. There is a performance penalty.

Not to mention applications need to support it and it's apparently very buggy.

So why does his window say "Physical Address Extension"? MS says it gets enabled automatically if DEP is enabled.

Maybe his memory controller doesn't support DEP.
