Billo gets owned by a 16 year old:
2008-02-18, 7:21 AM #1
This is old news, but hilarious. The kid is more graceful, pointed, and logical than bill has ever been in any context. He also delivers an awesome blow, using Bill's own tactics against him:

I laughed outloud.

I thought this thread said, "Bilbo" and I was really curious about how a 16 year old kid owned a 50+ year old (age of the books) fictional character [hobbit].

Kind of lame. The people speaking at the event sounded like a bunch of hippies, but Oriley to lazy to do any proper journalism. It's a bit hard to say, other than Oriley is an idiot, but we already knew that.

That wasn't being owned that was some sort of news talk show host that doesn't let other people talk.
nope.

I hate when people argue by shouting over one another... people who 'drown out' others by talking over them are afraid of what the other person has to say.

The reason he's still on the air is that he resonates very strongly with a certain demographic. Lower middle-class white males with overly aggressive attitudes, shrinking hairlines and expanding guts. They like Bill O'Reilly, because they think and act like he does (or at least how he portrays himself). They don't need to debate, they're already right. Worrying about things like rhetoric and evidence is just some fruity pussy-footing that's just trying to put off the inevitable truth: That I'm right. The world is clear cut. The effeminate flag-burning drug-using vegetarian commie liberals and their gay illegal Mexican lovers are ruining America. Those queer yellow-bellied Europeans are ruining America. Terrorists are ruining America. Liberals are letting terrorists ruin America. The lack of family values are ruining America (despite the fact that many of them are on their third and fourth wife). Crime and drug use are ruining America (no matter that plenty of them are popping pills or toking up).

And Bill O'Reilly panders to them perfectly. As long as you act like you're swinging the biggest pair of balls around, these people can't get enough of it.

I also think it comes down to liberals that like watching this, and criminalizing the right, or Christians, or white people, or whatever. It gives them a target for their hatred. It's a lot like people that give Coulter a second of time.

I don't actually expect Little Kirby to come up with something recent but this is stupid. He posts a link to an old discussion where a kid fumbles through pages of transcript just to show that Bill slightly mis characterized a statement, that in no way changed the meaning, and then goes on to portray one paragraph in one of Bill's books as being pro-drug. Little Kirby also says the kid uses Bill's own tactics. How can Litttle Kirby so praise these tactics when this kid uses them but then they are so bad when Bill uses them?

The truth is that the child never used any of Bill's tactics because the kid was simply spinning the whole time. The kid made himself look like a pomp *** and the typical lemmings here all agree that he owned Bill.

Wookie06 never stops redefining irony.

He never attempted to say that Bill's book is pro-drug. He was only pointing out that Bill made a "pro-drug" joke and that the joke the presenter made was no different.

You have no right to call us lemmings when all of your forum posts portray you as a complete sheep to Fox News and Ann Coulter. You are precisely the type of person stat was describing.

actually, he did use O'Reilly's tricks, taking statements out of context and blowing them out of proportion, and talking over someone who is already speaking.(bill is just better at it.)

now i dont think bill was "owned" by this kid, and i do think he came off as a pompous dillweed, but it is an amusing video.

and seriously, even though i havent read the book, how can comparing an honour student taking a toke on weekends to a blue collar guy having a beer when he comes home be anti-drug? its not necessarily pro-drug, but its definitely not anti-drug.

Have at it. Libs use "fundie" as an insult all the time whether it is fitting or not (which in my case wouldn't). You are little so that was literal. I guess you could call me big or fat. There is nothing in that clip that showed him getting owned but liberal "weenies" (read the coulter F-word) would of course flock to the statement which of course includes the lemmings here (commas intentionally omitted).

That's like saying "white people use black as an insult whether it is fitting or not." In this case, I am not a fundie and fundie is not an acceptable political term. A liberal is a liberal and even if the label is meant as an insult, which is impossible, it can't be.

Political relativity.

It's a *****, isn't it?
Wikissassi sucks.
2008-02-19, 9:57 PM #26
Billo took a concept out of context and misconstrued a joke to be a comment about condoning drugs. The kid showed the exact same kind of humor in Bill's book, and showed how something innocent can be taken out of context and misconstrued for a political pundit. The kid wasn't being overtly liberal or even condescending to bill. He was simply showing the error in his thinking, and that he was commenting on a situation he knew nothing about.

The entire incident is stupid to begin with because he's only hosting the topic to make cheap political jabs at liberal hippies.

The fact that you cannot see bill's hypocrisy, and how the student royally served his backwards thinking is tell-tale of your own stupid mindless (and incrementally supported with each of your posts) sheep existence. At no point in any discussion have you demonstrated even a slight level of comprehension. No where have you shown or defended an argument with logic. Your opinions constantly boil down to your selfishness and ego.

The beautiful thing is that I'm very hardly liberal. I don't believe in abortion, I don't think a majority of gun laws should exist, I have a hard time giving half of the power I will be giving to even my beloved Obama. I side most often with libertarians, even though I'd consider myself much more ideally social. Most people who have actually discussed political concepts with me and have used a little bit of their frontal lobe have called me a moderate. (I realize what political relativity is, JM)

My point is that I don't dislike you because you're a conservative. There are a handful of very smart conservatives that I wish there were more of. The fact of the matter is that you're a self-serving idiot. I have never heard you argue once for the good of another individual. Never have you argued in favor of someone's well being unless it was an individual that you personally identify with. In some of the most fundamentally wrong scenarios, where even the staunch conservatives of this very message board have been appalled, you were in "devil's advocate" mode, defending some pretty stupid/bad people.

You are hardly the accepting, understanding, logic minded individual you think you are. Not once have you observed creativity. Never have you shown compassion. At no point have you critically explained or understood a concept. At no point have you ever even done your own opinions justice in an argument. You're essentially a poorly developed child of selfish thinking and entitlement. You have always made me sick, but your sudden decision to make personal statements because you disagree with me has brought my personal opinions to the front.

You are sick, in my best clinical understanding. You have a bad case of the idiot, and I hope someday you can stop rolling your eyes and sidestepping alternative ideas. Maybe you'll suddenly realize why society cannot function with your own kind in it?

Spoken like a true lemming.

Because I agree, I therefore have no thoughts of my own? No.

This isn't even a political thing, this is a guy acting extremely pompous and arrogant who purposely took something out of context, and then shut the kid off the moment that kid showed him the error of his ways.
This is clearly a guy who is completely wrong, and can't admit it.

Hmm, ok I see why you are taking this personally =p

I agree that the kid came across as surprisingly well rehearsed. The kid also stipulated that it was at least a joke in bad taste. Bill slightly mischaracterized the quote, as I already said, but that didn't change the fact that he said he would do some Ecstasy.

He routinely features topics where sex or drug related topics are being irresponsibly addressed with regards to children. There is nothing cheap or stupid about that.

This paragraph is so full of contradictions and can be discussed separately if you like after this immediate metrosexual reaction of yours has been dealt with.

I can't think of any scenario here where a "staunch conservative" was appalled by something I supposedly defended. The only possible exception could be the taser incident but the guy was resisting police after politely being told to stop. He deserved every bit of that taser but I'm sure some "staunch conservative" might disagree.

Apparently since I have "never" done any of these things on this forum I've never done them and am, therefore, incapable of such things. Never is an absolute concept. Not to stipulate that I have never done any of these things on this forum I will state that I don't come here to observe creativity or show compassion (in fact I find the knee jerk posts referring to global incidents quite annoying; OMG a traffic accident in England, all Brittassians check in!). Give me a break. Seems to me that I showed compassion toward you in a post where I stated most people have no clue what hardship is compared to some of the things you've had to endure.

More personal attacks. Look, I've said it before. I'm more than capable of laying out logical, well reasoned posts. It's not worth the time. I've done it in the past as some former TACCers may remember. I come here, read what interests me, post my less than two cents and that's that. You take this far too seriously but I can definitely empathize with why someone in your situation might.
