what are some PC games with decent storylines and game play from the last coupla years. already done bioshock to death. did hl2/ep1/2. amazingly enough i'm tired of Deus Ex, and also tired of Freelancer, the only space sim that held my attention through till the end.

i'm bored and want something more than mindless shooting/stabbing things. adventure games are okay, but i havent had the time/patience to invest in them lately...

Although a shooter, Call of Juarez was awesome.

So was Hitman: Blood Money.
nope.

Psychonauts sounds like it would fit the bill. You can get it on Steam now for like $10.

Make sure to play System Shock 2. There are a variety of graphics-enhancing and bugfix mods that give it a much needed rehauling. If you're interested in that, PM me for details (otherwise I won't bother posting all the info).

I have Beyond Good & Evil sitting here, which is a modern adventure game that's supposedly utterly amazing but I haven't played it yet. I also bought The Longest Journey and its sequel, Dreamfall, on Steam, which are also amazing adventure games, but have not played them yet. You should check those out.

Also, yes, the Hitman games are fantastic, and manage to have mindful shooting/stabbing/poisoning/asphyxiating as well as decent writing.

BGAE is one of the bestest games ever.

While I'm not sure I'd go that far, it's definatly up there. Though saddly I've still yet to beat the last boss. But anyway, I'd definatly vote for that one.

yeah the trick on the last boss is memorising the combinations then remembering them backwards. its a pain, but its doable. took me like 30 tries tho.

Also the Splinter Cell games are very good. They are the only games to do stealth correctly other than Thief.

was advent rising any good?

i've splinter celled myself out recently.

basically the only games so far that i havent played are ss2 and assassin's creed. and i could never get ss2 to work. it would lock up and force me to hard reboot before i got to the menu screen.

Septerra Core is pretty awesome.

I second the motion for Psychonauts. What a juicy, lovingly crafted piece of fun :).

Unfortunately the second playthrough is a bit stale... hmmph. I suppose the novelty and mystery/discovery of the first playthrough is a big part of what made it.

Bloodlines, but it's buggy. Awesome though. Vampire: The Masquerade that is.

Bloodlines was an awesome game.

The haunted hotel level was AWESOME.

Mass Effect is heading to PC in a couple of months, might want to look into that.

STALKER is pretty good if you can look past its bugs. <.<

If you already played HL2 Episode 2, I assume you've also played Portal?

i hate the part with the meat and the nets you have to climb that are suspended in nothing on fire while water is coming up from the floor. :P

Oh yeah, bloodlines is only like 10 bucks on steam I think too. Might be 20 at the most.

I support the motions backing System Shock 2 and Psychonauts.

As an aside, are there any gems on XBox 360 I've missed out on - I've just been paid (so far I've had GoW, Orange Box, Bioshock and Halo 3 as my 'main' games - I've dabbled in others)?

Call of Duty 4. Lots of mindless shooting, but polished enough that I'd recommend it highly for any gamer regardless. Storyline isn't amazing, but the game just flows so smoothly that it's a treat for any type of gamer.
