Street racer's are all d-bags.

Apparently this has been getting national attention. I hope that some of these idiots start realizing the kind of danger THEY PUT OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT INVOLVED in.

This would be a good read for StrikeAthius and his boss.

This would be a good read to post on Massassi with 50% intent to get Strike Athius's goat.

Would be.

I posted it here because there are people here that street race.

While it is tragic and street racing is extremely stupid and irresponsible (i should know having done it and lost a car to it) those people should have known better than to stand in the middle of a damn highway....

Sucks for them.

Point:

These events are incredibly unsafe. If this was a real race track, bystanders wouldn't have a way onto the track to get mowed down by a passing car then re-mowed by a passing semi truck.

I hear they trained on collision simulators like Burnout Paradise.

Those people should have known better than to try to accelerate their plastic cars as fast as possible on a strip of road occupied by pedestrians, motor-vehicles, animals, and debris.

People shouldn't be able to buy performance cars. They're a total waste, and only douchfags buy them anyway.

Picking up chicks.

[EDIT: :argh: Roach!]
DO NOT WANT.

Not ugly, smelly, hairy, hippie chicks, either.

Cute chicks. Shallow chicks. Cute and shallow chicks. The best kind!

For one night stands. And those are the best...kinds...of stands...

Deer stands are kinda nice. And microwave stands aren't bad as stands go.
Wikissassi sucks.
2008-02-21, 3:36 PM #21
Don't forget about microphone stands! If you have one of those you're probably a rockstar and are using it to pick up chicks!

I tried street racing once several years ago. It's fun but far too nerve racking since there's so much that can happen.

If it were legal and they had official, isolated tracks then I'd probably try it again.
2008-02-21, 5:09 PM #23
it's unfortunate.. but the title should be '8 people killed after standing in the middle of the road'

People should be more considerate when they drive. The first second degree murder around the New Year here I believe was when some guy rushed a red light killing a mother and her child.

You mean like a drag strip?

The reason a lot of people street race is the lack of an available place to race legally. Here in Tallahassee there have been a few attempts over the last few years to get a track approved. We have a group of guys that found a location, negotiated a price with the owner, and got quotes to build the actual track but were shot down three times while trying to get a permit to actually build the thing. The locals didn't want a loud race track near them, which I understand. However, the location was approximately a mile and a half from any residence as it was in the middle of the woods. Under these circumstances, I don't blame the guys here for racing out in the middle of nowhere.

As soon as I get the dent and bumper scratches fixed (****in' ******* @ school :argh: ), it's time to trick out my Cobalt. I've taken up a small hobby of detailing (my) car(s). I want to detail my sister's FX35. It's all black. That thing detailed would look gooooood.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Hahah.

Why do street racers usually have really lame cars?

Thats a bull**** excuse.

Durrr, I don't care enough to drive my car somewhere out of the way to race. So I'm going to put other people in the way of danger here.

Thats like if I were to go hunting, but the most convenient place was the mall. I should be able to hunt at the mall. (But there would be no sport in that, fat people are not only BIGGER targets they also move slower)
2008-02-21, 8:56 PM #33
I heard they are dangerous in large groups. You are aware of the "all-you-can-eat" hours? :v:

I don't think the issue is so much as not being "out of the way" as it is that people tend to make a show out of it. That's the major cause of death here. The street racers made it into a show with an audience.

Large groups just make shotguns a larger convenience.

If things got hairy I could always throw a sausage wrapped in bacon soaked in lard into a large group of fatties and they'd fight it out.

I'm sure a bunch of sorostitutes would jump in for the sausage, too.

Another issue is that alot of these jerks are too lazy and don't feel like spending the money on bringing their cars up to safety specifications.

OOOH, BECAUSE SAFETY WIRED BOLTS ARE SO EXPENSIVE AND SO HARD TO INSTALL!!!!!

(And lots of other stuff ricers and street racing douches won't do because it costs money/they're lazy)

I don't think it's a money/laziness problem. Lots of street racers are more than willing to put the money and effort into jacking their car up. They're probably too focused on pimping out the damn car to even think about safety.

Let's not forget this race was scheduled in the early morning where there is a good possibility that darkness obscures things when driving pedal to the medal. And also there was traffic on that road.

dude, race tracks don't just grow out of the ground.. the only strip near my house is an hour away and the only road course is a hour 45 minutes away, and public racing is limited.
