What was that?

The shot of the huge asteroid bursting out of the clouds and hitting the town was pretty cool, but the asteroid was probably going too slow for realism.

The sound effects were pretty crappy, IMO. They sounded really cheesy and budget-ish. The effects were pretty cool, but the people could stand to look more affected by their impending doom. That kid on the train was sort of watching those meteorites hit with a blank expression. :downs:
DO NOT WANT.

It was a BBC documentary series about how the world could end.

Did they really need to play that heart beat for three minutes?

that almost always cuts out the supervolcano segment, I had to watch it on google video. stupid cutting of show instead of ads just so it fits in a timeslot. I mean, why dont they just PAD it out with ads, or just put one of their many mini docos on afterwards. (this only applies to NatGeo airings.)

Erm, the BBC channels don't have ads so they're made to fit a larger slot. Whenever the BBC airs US series they tend to be cut for 1 hour with a crap load of adverts and the BBC squishes it into a 45 minute slot without a problem.
How was Planet Earth aired elsewhere? I think it was deliberately cut for use on channels with adverts. On the BBC the show itself would be 45 minutes followed by a ~15 minute making of section that was often just as interesting. I'm guessing they only air the first section in most places.
