Give me your honest opinion of this site from a design and marketing viewpoint. Everyone else tell me what this site would tell you as a potential customer looking for PC Service.

Thanks.

It's very white

The graphics are poor quality

Blue text == bleh

It looks like it was designed by a 5th grader learning HTML in computer class. If your computer repair website doesn't look better than my mother's family photo blog, you probably can't fix my computer.

Competitors:

http://www.geeksquad.com/

http://www.geeksoncall.com/

http://www.gurus2go.com/

Notice that all 3 of them use a consistent color pallet, good fonts, and crisp images. Two of them incorporate craptastic videos on load, but other than that their designs are superior. What would draw a potential client away from that type of professionalism when faced with the site you posted?

Also, why is there a guitar clip art picture on the front page? Why?

Is this a joke?

Out of the 3 yecti posted, only geeksquad is worth considering in terms of design and marketing. The others are ugly, especially gurus2go - and they have terrible fonts.

Caps title... ugly font.... random pictures.

haha, what a site. I'm guessing it's not yours?

From a technical perspective the html is nothing short of dire.

I'm going to have to agree with Echoman and assume it's a joke.

I wouldn't touch them with a 30 foot pole. And their pricing is downright hilarious.

Honest Opinion: Offering Web Design services with your own site looking like that will get you nowhere.

eh the design is not good. The only thing I can say is start over.. look at other various websites to get an ideal of the flow and try and recreate it.

Never trust a computer service site that doesn't look good.

But can you trust the service?

Font is too big, blue color looks bland, pictures feel like clip art, paragraphs using center text (this is a super no-no, center text tend to look amateurish), text on the front page is cluttered, navigation doesn't stand out (which can lead to confusion), blue and red should NEVER be used together as they can strain the eye... the site needs to be retooled to make it more modern as opposed to something straight out of 1996. I would suggest looking around at websites of similar competition for inspiration.

Change the font to something more pleasing to the eyes.

A simple Black and White concept would work much better than that.

Maybe you can get some trendy looking vector art to be spilled on your page.

What's up with that google search bar at the top? The clip art cutting it off makes it look even more horrible.

And " Premium Web Site design and Hosting " ? No one will pay the $199 (lowest price) with that kind of site design.

No where do you have a "privacy policies" bar. People want to be able to know that their information is safe. Also, a "hacker proof" certification would help as well. Let the people know they can trust you.

You got to get better testimonials than that. A sponsor from a successful local company would help a lot and people would be convinced to pay for your services.

first reaction: why is there a guitar?

When was was this site created?

If this is how the company's website looks I don't want to know what my web site would look like if I were be let them design it for me.

Take out the ambulance clip art and give me a map and additional contact info right there on the home page.
2008-02-21, 9:42 PM #19
Ugly ugly ugly. Like yecti said, look at the competition. The information needs to be laid out clear... Right now its all just there

I don't know if I'm just not getting something that everyone else is, but I think the site is pretty awesome....?
2008-02-22, 5:30 AM #21
I agree, I think the site is fantastic. It's got a nice nostalgic feel going for it that a lot of sites lose these days with their flashy bells and whistles. The blue text stands out and focuses the reader's attention immediately. There's no clutter and it's easy to navigate. Magnificent in its simplicity.

Thanks for the input. I didn't design this site, but I am doing the new one. Just wanted to have some responses to print out and show the person who designed the current site. They believe it was well done.

Didn't want to post my feelings about it because I wanted unbiased replies. You all rock, thanks mucho.

Making the new site myself, any ideas?

Make everything a javascript popup, do ****tons of flash, but only handdrawn flash with the mouse, no text or pictures or tools used, that's all pussy ****. Don't forget the marquees, the background music (midis only kthx) and then you'll have the best site ever.

The worst part of course is the Google search at the top. The way the information was laid out was also terrible, but that in addition to the placement of the search button makes it look like a 9th grade web design homework that the student got a C on.
2008-02-22, 9:05 AM #27
C? I'd fail that kid.

I don't know much about web design myself, but this site stinks. I just began learning HTML and web design and even the basic things we do in my class turn out better than this. Also, my computer does not display the page correctly, its jumbled and I can't read it for beans.

As far as remaking it, i think most of anything could be better than this. Like the others said, compare the competition and go from there. :)
2008-02-23, 11:46 AM #33
My suggestions:

decide on a color palette and stick with it
nix the clip art
make the layout more organized and the navigation more clear.

Looks like your average low budget web site from about 1995.
2008-02-23, 11:48 PM #37
Also, the name "Computer Repair-A-Medic" is downright awful. It's way too long and hard to remember. The URL for the site is just as bad. Hyphens in URLs are terrible. The name "Computer Medic" is far better, assuming it's not taken. If it is, tell them to come up with something original.
