So the new budget card of the 9*00 lineup launched first, and apparently it kicks *** and is under 200 bucks. Not quite as good as the 8800GT/GTS but for a lot less.

Review Here (guru3d)

Just thought I'd let you guys know as I know there are a lot of people doing their upgrade thing right now. If you haven't purchased a video card yet, and are looking at a budget machine, I'd change your ideas around a bit.

I'd stick with your 8800GT, but it's hard to find them at that price point honestly. At least I get to here before I find one I would touch with a ten foot pole. Huge *** fan? No thanks (on a budget card at least). MSI/XFX? No ****ing thank you.

EDIT: Boco, there's a drop down menu at the top where you can skip to the reviews. Guru3d likes to pad their reviews with way too much stupidity...it's not even really all that technical, just "LOOK GUYS HERE'S WHAT IT CAME WITH AND IT'S NEW ISN'T THAT NUTS"

there's the one I got.

when I got it Newegg had it at $209.99

Guess it's one of the lower end, but not bad.

and much better than my 7600gs was.

Same price as the 3850 I ordered. Oh well. Doubt I'd be able to tell the difference anyway. :p

Ah yeah.

Sarn--it's not lower end, I just don't buy MSI/XFX. Ever. I've heard so many horror stories that I refuse to put money into their pockets.

well.. ok. lower high-end?
:p

and rly? I've had no trouble with mine. Only issue I had was installing it.. they make the buggers so big now.. barely fit in my case.. and I had to unscrew my hard drive and slide it forward then slide it back into place after the card was isntalled. :)

I'm only getting some $300 back. That will be spent on VS 2008.

But I really should be getting $0 back and paying $0
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Well it's mostly customer service issues, not technical ones from what I've seen.

well.. if there's no technical issues I should have no customer service issues, right?

You can get them now for 200$ overclocked which is only 20$ more than a 9600GT. This whole trend of releasing minor revisions to architectures over a year old along with a few jerry rigged SLI "single cards" and calling it a new generation is retarded. What are they doing anyway?

Where at? I've never seen a decent one for less than 220.
