i'm doing this wiring for a guitar. this is coming out of a 3 position switch to another switch. position one makes the signal go through the volume pot and to the output. position 3 adds the tone pot to the chain. position 2 should send the signal straight to the output.

now. i've wired it like the plan, but without the diode. it's a wiring i came up with on my own btw, no premade plan.

position 3 works just like position 2. oddly enough. i've got two ideas. a faulty switch, or the common link at the output makes a short. i was thinking adding a diode would prevent the current from going the other way, but I'm not too sure.

anyone see any fault in my logic?

ps. on the switch config, black means on

Sorry, I guess that's over my head because I don't really get what is what on that diagram or understand what's going on, but I just wanted to say that is a really weird and confusing switch.
