Wow, I did not think thats what the pot was going to be used for.

Everyone was going gaga over these things on the SA forums a while back. I dunno, it seems kind of weird to me.

It is kind of weird, but can also be really useful for people with nasal problems of any kind. I have vasomotor rhinitis, and the first surgery I got didn't help that much (RF turbinate reduction), so something like this could actually alleviate some symptoms (stuffyness, runny nose) until I can get back in to see my ENT in the summer.

Still kind of weird though...maybe I'll just try it with the bottle of sterile saline I have for contacts.

Thanks, internet.

I've used something like that before. It's actually very helpful in clearing things out when ill. It takes a few tries to get use to it, though.

There must be a seriously uncomfortable stinging sensation during a person's first tries.

I could just see myself freaking out, coughing, and somehow choking on the salt water.

Awesome video. I thought it was bad when he poured coffee into the pot, but when I saw the wine it was a pure :gonk: moment.

Nope. You add just enough salt to make the solution isotonic. Burning will result from having too little salt (hypotonic) or too much (hypertonic). The same is true for your eyes, and it's also why isotonic contact solutions don't burn your eyes. Isotonic with respect to the human body means the solute content is the same inside the cells as the solution outside the cells. That way, the cells don't shrink nor expand due to diffusion and osmosis, respectively.

I use a bottle instead of a neti pot. Same idea though, and it works pretty well. My Dr. told me to irrigate my nose with 1/4 tsp salt to 8 oz of warm water. I have lots of nasal problems and that seems to help a lot.

D: Jesus Christ. I guess I wasn't watching that closely. That's so much worse.
