So it would appear that my current joystick is almost dead, i need a new one, however the selection of joysticks in places like best buy is... limited at best. The only one i can seem to find is this ****ty 30 dollar thing without rudder.

Any suggestions?

I had a Microsoft Sidew[y]nder something or other that was basic, but really good. I think it was a "Sidewynder Precision 2"... that was 5 years ago though, but hopefully that line is still good/around.

I had a sindwinder too, best joysticks ever made. However i dont think they sell them anymore and mine broke a year ago.

Yeah, I have the precision 2. Still works great. Does everything i'd ever need, but I also got it about 5 years ago so can't comment on newer ones, but i've not had to replace it so that must be worth something.

I haven't really seen a good game worth getting a joystick for lately.

I like joysticks.

I recently got the x52, and other than a soft-reset on the stick which I apparently keep tripping (only takes a few seconds to fix) I love it. I've got an Evo on the floor next to me which I used for a few years.

I have an MS Force Feedback 2 that's sitting around collecting dust I'd be willing to sell you (I think it was the next step in the Precision Pro line). As far as new joysticks go I always see people raving about Saitek when I lurk in the Freespace forums.

I personally like the feel of Logitech sticks the most. I have a Saitek Cyborg Evo or something, and it's nice, but the stick is too loose. The Logitech ones have a higher tension than most which I find very nice. Not to mention their built quality is second to none.

1. No need to get so worked up over something like that.

2. He's not gay.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

talk to this guy

i've always found MS sticks to be very well built i have a Precision 2 and a Force Feedback 2 both are very good sticks the only real step up from them would be the setups with the separate stick, throttle, and rudder pedals

Yeah, those rock, but be prepared to shell out the bucks. They've actually gone up in value.

Holy cow! How much?

How does $60 + shipping sound? It's probably going to cost an arm and a leg to ship to the US...I only mentioned it to TE because I think he lives in Toronto.

I had a Sidewinder Precision 2, it wasn't very good. As you moved the stick you could feel indentations along the NE/SW and NW/SE axes. It may have been on purpose for some reason, but it was annoying as hell. It made it hard to gain control when moving the stick between those regions.

I don't know how their force feedback products are, though.

If I bought a joystick right now it would probably be the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

Holy hell...you're not kidding! $179.90 for the Sidewinder..

I love Logitech products (speakers, mice, etc), but haven't had much luck with their older joysticks. My Saitek has been great, but it has no rudder and no force feedback. I haven't tried the Logitech Force 3D Pro, though.

should also be mentioned for the maybe 2 or 3 who still don't know... MS got out of the PC game controller market a while back the only controllers they make now are for the 360 (which by coincidence do work on the PC... though i haven't heard any word on if the racing wheel works)

Well, if shipping isn't astronomical, that sounds more than reasonable. I live in Louisville, KY 40222.
