I'm having trouble with non-English characters.

If you scroll down to S -> System of a Down -> Steal this Album!, track 5 has an unrecognized character.

However, if you go here:

http://www.stealingourwebs.com/music/fetch/by_artist/songs.php?alphaIdx=0&artistIdx=0&albumID=144&albumIdx=0

It looks fine.

Why does an AJAX request kill the non-English character?

We had a similar problem once, the solution was to switch to UTF-8, if you can.

Aha! Thanks. I used the .overrideMimeType() XMLHttpRequest method and that did the trick.
