Did Hitler deserve to be sucked through a turbine?

Whether or not he was careless around planes is irrelevent.

:colbert:
nope.

It depends on what you mean by deserve? There are fundamental ethic questions that deal with these concepts. From the perspective of a pacifist, killing the killer legitimizes the original action.

if an employee in a hazardous job willfully puts themselves in a known hazardous situation on their own it would be that employee's fault.

it would be the equivalent of me smoking at my place of employment, a gas station, while checking the levels of gas in the tanks. its my fault if that place goes boom.

if hitler was stupid enough to go near a turbine, hitler's ****ed

That's not necessarily true. The employer has a lot of responsibility for creating and enforcing safety standards and protocols. Maybe not there, but by law in the US and by moral standard anywhere. What if that guy wasn't trained properly and didn't know? Or what if he frequently took shortcuts and no one ever noticed. Same goes for other employees, because they could endanger each other.

I'm sort of wondering what you mean by "deserved". I mean, it's not like by not being sucked into an engine he became immortal and conquered the world by personally killing every person individually.

He died anyway, so... I'll go with yes.

Not going near engines while the red beacon is on IS AN INTERNATIONAL STANDARD PRACTICE.

It's DAY 1 MATERIAL. Everywhere.

Well that's true. There would be something very wrong with the company if they didn't tell the employees that the red light = danger. But how can you measure an employee's sense of personal judgment? Accident history? I can assume they can routinely surprise-quiz the employees (Question 3: What does the red light mean?) but I can assume that will only go so far.

It isn't a tail light.

It's a light on the buttom of the plane. There is usually also a second light on top of the plane.

Trust me when I tell you that it's something practiced the world over, otherwise accidents like this would be far more common.

Two wrongs don't make a right, period. I voted no because I think he deserved a lot more than something so quick, but I don't think it would be just to actually carry out such an action.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's highly unlikely that it was anyone's fault but his own. I'm just saying it's not necessarily the employee's fault.

Would Hitler be standing on a conveyor belt when this happened?

No, it's always those evil corporations man!

Like why can't they like make airplanes with safety grating over the engine man! Because they're evil man, thats all there is to it.

I think you misunderstand my point of view. I'm a Fire Protection and Safety Technology major, it's my place (and will be my job) to know OSHA regulations and safety guidelines. I'm just saying that sometimes employees do stupid things, but sometimes companies create unsafe work environments by hiring stupid employees and/or not informing and enforcing proper employee safety practices.

In this case, though, as I said, it looks pretty obvious that the guy was at fault.

No. I don't support demonising Hitler since it creates a false barrier between him and the rest of us which will end up causing similar atrocities to happen in the future.

Only if he took Stalin with him.

Yes.

More importantly, if Hitler was sucked through a turbine of a plane on a treadmill would it take off?

Does this turbine incident take place while Hitler has posession of the 'Spear of Destiny' or after it's taken from him?

If Hitler still had the spear then he is still invincible and the turbine would merely be annoying and not fatal. Not much of a punishment.

It doesn't really matter. I'm just saying we are already having the exact same discussion in an active thread. The world will not end either way. It's just redundant.
