Have you seen the interviews with the man? Have you seen his NRA rallies?

I mean the guy was a great actor, and I feel bad he was going through so much pain, but the world needs a lot less people like him.

If anyone wants that rifle, they can probably go take it now.

He seemed to be an alright guy up till he reached his 60s and entered cranky old man territory. Before that he was involved in the civil rights movement, anti-Vietnam war etc
Wikipedia says he even campaigned for gun control at one point:psyduck:

Anyway, RIP and all that.

Yeah, people in the NRA should die. Forget all the other great things they did!

Yes, please take what I said out of context and then bash me for my opinions!

I just don't believe people should be able to own guns wantonly, and he stood against all that. Plus he was a racist (from what I've heard), and an *******, and generally just psychotic from what I could tell.

But yeah, let's not turn this into that.

If opposing affirmative action somehow makes you racist, then yeah. However, he was a pretty active proponent of civil rights.

In any case, you just don't like guns. That is all. You (and others) believe the world needs less pro-gun folks and many believe the world needs more. Either way, saying the world is better off with someone because you disagree with them is kinda disgusting.

This thread is getting **** on, The man is dead pay some respect.

There's no requirement to pay respect to someone when they die. I won't Godwin the thread, but you know what I'm getting at.

Now that I read that you're not. His character's last words were pretty much the only good part of the new Planet of the Apes movie.

Hrm....and yet you still continue being a douche bag. That's cool too, I guess.

Also, his attitude in the 60s/70s is alarmingly different from him later in life, if you'll pay attention.

But I'm done arguing. I don't agree with his policies on guns, and I think it's tragically ironic he died the day before the assassination of the President of Rwanda (which started the Rwandan conflict, something I was just thinking about when I read he had died). I think if it weren't for gun runners, and the almost ridiculous ease for getting weapons, then the Rwandan conflict wouldn't have been a million people dead in a month, though deaths of course would have still occurred.

Also, minorly relevant:
What really makes me insane is how eager politicians are to use the pop culture — not just videogames but TV, movies, even Harry Potter — as a whipping boy. It's easy for them, even sort of fun, because the pop-cult always hollers nice and loud. Also, it allows legislators to ignore the elephants in the living room. Elephant One is the ever-deepening divide between the haves and have-nots in this country, a situation guys like Fiddy and Snoop have been indirectly rapping about for years. Elephant Two is America's almost pathological love of guns. It was too easy for critics to claim — falsely, it turned out — that Cho Seung-Hui (the Virginia Tech killer) was a fan of Counter-Strike; I just wish to God that legislators were as eager to point out that this nutball had no problem obtaining a 9mm semiautomatic handgun. Cho used it in a rampage that resulted in the murder of 32 people. If he'd been stuck with nothing but a plastic videogame gun, he wouldn't even have been able to kill himself.
Now, can we let the matter rest? Or at the very least rant at me in PMs so your stupidity is easier to ignore.
