Bush had a GPA of 2.35 at Yale

Doesn't that seem a tad low for someone who is running our country? Also how did he get into Yale with only a score of 1260 or 1206?
2004-08-06, 5:07 PM #2
The Bush family has always been influential. It's not really overly surprising, especially considering his amazing English skills.

Lots of people get into big universities with low money or scores or whatever, it's not at all uncommon for someone who the university just thinks is interesting or promising or well-connected or whatever to be accepted on those grounds alone.

Edit: why does /imdb/ have a page on him anyways?

"9th cousin twice removed of John Kerry, his rival in the 2004 election. Both are descended from Edmund Reade (1563-1623)."

interesting..

I like how they dont' quote him on anything worthwhile or well-spoken.. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/rolleyes.gif]
Ok so there are a couple vague token ones like that further down the page.

No, when referring to gallows, hanged is the proper usage.

I really don't see what his university scores then have to do with being the president now. It's not like he went there for a degree in how to be a president and bombed the course.

I was just pointing how stupid it is to take some one's GPA from 20 years ago and make it out as some big deal. Einstien would make a horrible president. He may have been good at math and science, but he would do crappy as a president. FYI there is a diffrence bettween high IQ and wisdom.

Can someone explain the American Tertiary score system to me?

Wait wait, better idea, I can hear the shuffling of lecture pads from some of you more thorough Massassians already. How about a more general outline, and what the average person's score might be?

Yale, people. Yale. Yale is a really good school, remember?
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

I take it you get below a 2.00?

And although a C's average, it's far below average for most Americans. Realistically, a B is considered more average, and an A above average. Yeah.

Ben Franklin only had a 6th or 7th grade education if I'm correct. Great leadership qualities don't necessarily require great intelligence. Although I'm not saying I agree with everything that GW does, I'm just saying you need to be careful by implying that just because he has a low IQ, he's a bad leader...

Ben Franklin also lived in an era where you could learn more by following someone who knows things around than you could learn at school. And he wasn't President. And if you are not smart enough to get good grades at yale, don't go to yale.

Bush opposes 'legacy' college admissions
Surreal.

Sine: Yeah, and so is Harvard's law school, which Bush also was accepted into. Since he was rejected by the University of Texas graduate program, though, the clear implication is his family connections and legacy status helped him in both universities.

Gandalf: Not until you crack and vote for Nader.

Erm, listen to Sine. It's not easy to get more than a 2.35 at Yale.

It's creepy that he is John Kerry's ninth cousin twice removed, they are both descendants of the same dude, scroll down! Creepy.

I know tons of people whos entire families went to Yale and Harvard, and they all say the same thing: The hardest part is getting in.

Apparently its not that hard to get in if your family has some sort of legacy, either.

Did I created to this thread merely to show a flaw of Bush? Somewhat, but I merely wanted to point out more about how people of high prestige are about to get into a good school without meeting the requirements. It just upsets me when some people study so hard to get into a school like Yale, while others can easily rely on their status.
By the way, I heard Bill Clinton was quite the scholar. Does anyone know his SAT score and grades?
