Contact Lenses... Looking to Switch.

I have recently gotten tired of my Acuvue Oaysis contacts... I went from Acuvue 2 to these, and liked them at first but they don't feel as good as they used to. I'm looking to switch to another brand and get some opinions from those who have worn them. I usually wear mine longer than one day, but I try not to leave them in for too long. Daily disposables would be acceptable if they provided more comfort.

Anyone?

Somehow you don't strike me as a person able to grasp the delicate intricacies of contact lenses.

I have the Acuvue Oaysis contacts and I wouldn't trade them for the world. They are 2 week lenses, but I've had this pair in for near four months now and I've yet to have a single problem with the lenses or my eyes. I've had contacts for almost 3 years, and I've always worn my lense way longer than I am supposed to. Never really had a problem, I know it's stupid to do though.
Think while it's still legal.

Better idea: Take your contact lenses out at night. Seriously.

This. I wanna laser though. Probably in a few years when I can afford it.

Your choice of solution makes a big difference. I've always used Opti-Free Express and have always had problems with dry eyes and such. Shortly after getting the Oasis lenses I started using Complete and all those problems went away. Kind of pisses me off to know that ten years of eye problems were caused by my solution. But you might try changing solution before the lenses.

I'm considering Lasik surgery. The bad thing is I can't do anything strenuous for 3 weeks. That knocks out wrestling for a bit. Well, maybe next year.
obviously you've never been able to harness the power of cleavage...

Hm, I never thought about the solution. I use the same opti-free express.

Any other suggestions for solution? You said you use 'Complete'?
I have a friend who uses the Night and Day lenses, I may try them out. It's time for me to reorder, so I could get one round to test them on. (I'm lucky enough that both my eyes are the same so I can get one box and be good for a while...)

Had laser eye surgery well over a year ago (Lasik I think).

Bloody expensive for decent results and slow recovery time. But 100% worth it.
2008-04-23, 1:33 PM #22
Recovery time varies from person to person... just like anything. Prices are getting better, and some insurances will partially pay for it these days. Not to mention the financing possibilities.

My dad had it done almost 10 years ago, he had to go back for a touch up a few days later to correct something else but ended up with 20/20... He can still see the menu from the back of any restaurant. Makes me sick.

Sadly i have a gimped optical nerve (Or so the eye doctor says.) so im doomed to never have 20/20.

Rob, you should probably learn to take a joke without having to defend yourself (also known as getting defensive) for no real reason.

I wish I could put in contacts...or get lasik. Either one. I have a really light prescription but wearing glasses is a pain sometimes (sunglasses, safety glasses, goggles, etc.)

I can take a joke probably way better than anyone else here.

I just thought it was a lame joke, IE, I want them to try harder next time on internet.

Did nobody else notice the pun in the title?

I resent that. God played a joke on me. Example: I am allergic to milk and my mom's family are dairy farmers.

Yep, it's "Complete" with a blue label. My eye doctor said it's what was used during testing of the Acuvue Oasis also, so that's good if true. I don't have any other solution suggestions however, those are the only two I've used. I DO suggest removing your contacts at night. I left mine in for about 2 months straight and developed a corneal ulcer. Let me tell you, that was the most pain I've ever been in! It felt like someone was holding a power sander to my eyeball and it was so sensitive to light that even with my eyes closed, hands over my face, looking down, and two jackets over my head I could barely stand the drive to the hospital. The doctor said I was lucky because a corneal ulcer will leave a scar on your eye (which my eye doctor can now see), and if this scar is in the center of your pupil you will be blind. Scary ****. So please take your contacts out at night, for your own sake.

Yikes ^^^

Any chance they sell "Complete" at local drug stores (CVS? Walgreens?) or at the least Wal-Mart.
