I'm surprised he didn't tear that place up more. I would have been trying to tear my way out after 2-3 hours.

Aren't we all like that on the inside, trying to break free of the thick confinement of everyday society?

He lost his life over it!? Man.

I would love to get stuck in an elevator with someone.

You would be stuck in the elevator with a person who is in this organization.

He got the impression he could win millions in court by suing them, but he couldn't claim emotional/psychological damages so easily if he returned to work. So he didn't go back, they fired him and he didn't get nearly so much money in court.
What's funny is the guy doing maintenance does every lift but his one and that 8 security guards should have at least glanced at the monitor while he was stuck in there.

I've been stuck in a couple elevators. Once for 2 hours in a rickety old open-top 10 foot lift. I climbed out and sat on the top-floor door while I waited for the repairman. The second time was with some crabby fat lady for 4 hours at a hospital. I was afraid of getting eaten.

I think I would definitely be trying to get out the top.

Not an elevator shaft. It's one of those metal lifts for mid-floors. I was stuck in the middle, got super claustrophobic after 10 minutes of waiting, and climbed out.

I wonder what I would do in a situation like that.

Probably sing songs.

I'd go crazy in less than four hours if I didn't have a cell phone or sketch book on me. That guy seemed like he had nothing to do except pace for nearly two days. Urgh.

I would have been really ticked at those security guards, even after an hour.

Though in this case the top was bolted from the outside and even if he had managed to open the top he would've had a ~20 story climb as this was an express eleveator.
Sorry for the lousy German

Yeah, good point. Those factors combined with the fact that it happened on a Friday evening make this pretty much the worst situation possible. Unless the elevator was like, also on fire.

Well, with fire it wouldn't have been so boring...

Yes, I've also heard burning to death does wonders for boredom.
