Right now I use a Shcick Quatro and I find it's been giving me a bad case of razor burn so I think I'm gonna change razors, maybe even get an electric one. I'm not sure. I figured I would see who uses what here and if it works for them.

So post your shaving tools!

Some electric Gillette thing with 3 razors, works like a charm.

Of course that is only for my face. You absolutely can't get rid of anything else at this point.

Quatro Titanium. If you're getting razor burn with a 4 blade, you either have a dull blade or really crappy shaving cream or are shaving against the grain.

I bought an electric razor, a Norelco to be exact, and I love it.

It doesn't make my face as smooth as a regular blade sure, but it does the job and I don't get ingrown hairs when I use it

The thing to remember about an electric razor is that you have to clean the blades VERY WELL if you're prone to breakouts. If you don't, you're just rubbing dirt and oil into your pores every time you shace. The best razors will flush the blades out with alcohol automatically. Neat feature, but it's cheaper to take the blades off and put them in a cup and let them soak yourself.

You might also need to lotion up your face if you start using an electric razor, because the constant abrasion can give you flakey sorta dry skin.

I use a Gillette Mach3. Normally just use hot water on my face and no shaving cream.

A Braun electric razor, one with the Williams F1 team logo and colors. It works pretty well and for me it's less of a hassle than manual razors, but the red light indicating low charge starts blinking really soon after fully charging the thing, I've been wondering if my unit is faulty.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Still use gillette sensor xl, with TWO BLADES not 3 or 4 or 5. Gimme a break, the 3+ blade razors are like 2x the height of my upper lip, how am I going to shave with that!?

I used to use the Gillette Fusion razors but they're too expensive. I have rather sensitive skin and even I don't need more than three. More than three is a gimmick. Now I just use Mach 3 razors.

There are depilatory creams for facial shaves, but they suck. However, they also soften the skin (which is rich in keratin, which is broken down by the cream). If I want to shave against the grain, I'll use a depilatory for maybe 2-3 minutes before my actual shaving. You're not supposed to use a depilatory and a razor, but the normal exposure time is 6-9 minutes. I keep it on just long enough to soften the skin.

Good electric razors are quite good. The foil kind that Braun makes are great. I imagine the newer ones that have larger holes in the foil work even better. Using that with a pre-shave balm would probably be great. It's also a lot cheaper in the long run. I would advise against rotary shavers, they don't cut as close and require a lot more scrubbing and circular motions to get the same shaving, tearing your face up in the process.

I used to use a protector 3d diamond until they seemed to stop stocking the blade in the places round here. Luckily that was round christmas and my sister gave me a Gillette Fusion doodad.

They're awesome.
nope.

I like the trimming blade on the Fusion razors, but a straight razor would work just as well. I've just decided to hold onto my old Fusions for the occasional use of the trimmer.

Yeah, my handle is actually a Mach3 Turbo but once I ran out of Turbo blades I just started buying whatever was cheaper.
2008-05-01, 5:08 PM #21
I use a Mach 3 Turbo with regular Mach 3 cartridges, 'cause I'm cheap. :P

I wish I could find a cheaper way that still works..a little hesitant to try a straight blade, though.
woot!

I hate shaving. If I shave with the grain, it's never smooth... :(

I use an electric clipper thing to keep my facial hair short, but I rarely shave it. If I do, I just use a Mach 3 and some shaving soap/brush.

The cheapest electric available at the time I was buying, a Norelco Reflex Plus. I do not get a close, smooth shave, and you're more likely to see me sporting two or three days' worth of stubble than a clean shave anyway. Not because it looks particularly good, but because I'm bad enough at growing facial hair to get away with it for a couple days.

I'm still using a razor I got in the mail for free (which btw wasn't supposed to be my mail, stupid mailman hehe). It is a Gillette Fusion with 4 blades.
