Recommend me some games to play!

Now that I'm finally upgrading my PC (parts will arrive tomorrow :D), I would like to know what games I should consider checking out that I've missed out since 2004 :P (yes, my computer is that old lol)

So far, here are the games I would like to play once I get my new computer:

- Bioshock
- Call of Duty 4
- Crysis
- Quake Wars
- F.E.A.R.

Please try to only recommend games that have demos available that I can download.

This. BioWare's announced recently that PC gamers will get the Bring Down the Sky DLC for free, and since Bring Down the Sky was better than at least one and probably two of the main quest worlds, this is a pretty good deal.

I agree with Aaron.

I'd suggest you check out Oblivion for the PC with a handful of mods. Everything else I would've suggested has already been mentioned.

Quake Wars isn't terribly bad... it's just it came out around TF2 did and people didn't care.

my computer is from 2004 and runs everything you list except crysis just fine (ok so i can't max the graphics on most of them but it handles FEAR no problem)

I enjoyed Crysis single player.

The multiplayer was hacking hell, though.

On a slightly unrelated note, personally, I think FEAR is one of those games that hasn't age well. After the excitement over the technology (shadows, dynamic lighting) is over and people have machines that can run the game no problems, the title then has to rely on level design and such to remain a gem. Unfortunately, once I got a laptop that ran FEAR full-screen, all settings on relatively high, I cringed at the bland environments after I knew all the scary bits.

But I have to admit, shooting people in FEAR is still very enjoyable. I don't know exactly why but the game is among the few that enemy bodies have that "meaty" feel to it.
