I wish more artists would follow Trent's lead.

Oh, also, if anyone is interested, you can get raw multitracks for the whole album at http://remix.nin.com/

Hopefully it's good. I've only heard "Discipline" and it wasn't that great. It seemed more like a B-Side off With Teeth than anything else. Still, I'm excited to give this a listen.

Since the album is free and released under CC, if anyone has trouble downloading (some people are complaining about the emails taking a while) it should be fine to torrent it.

You can also stream it at http://www.ilike.com/artist/Nine+Inch+Nails/album/The+Slip

Yeah, I ended up going for a torrent. I'm listening now.

Not a big fan of NIN music, but this is definitely a step in the right direction for the industry.

I hate the music industry.

And I don't really like NIN, but it's free music.

Uh, not to get all up in your faces here, but Trent Reznor is already world famous. He can afford to do this. If you were referring to the free music.

I'm loving the album, the only problem I see, like most of NIN's songs I've heard, after a while they all start to blend together due to the distortion of every instrument on the album. Props to Reznor for the freebie.
Think while it's still legal.

isnt that the same complaint people make about SoaD albums?

Yes.

Can't say I ever heard that one, but enough about the best band in the world, this thread is about Nine Inch Nails.

I don't think even SOAD would call themselves the best band in the world because they aren't in the following list or anywhere close in quality. Nor do I think they would claim in all their 12 minutes of glory that they've had anywhere close the cultural impact as any of the following bands;

Pink Floyd
The Rolling Stones
The Beatles
Thin Lizzy
Jimi Hendrix
The Who
The Doors

The real list of the best bands in the world is probably a lot longer.

I'm liking the album, especially it's free-ness. But I agree that songs blend together. This made me listen to some other NIN though and realized again how good they can be. Pretty Hate Machine ftw
