L'Acadie!
Kick arse. I met a crap load of new relatives (out of 400-500, but I couldn't talk to them all you know!!!)
The relatives from France came, they were cool, although it was hard to understand them
I think they expected a lot more relatives..but meh, I still thought it rocked!
So now I know all about my past, and my Acadian background. The first Girouard to ever come to North America is my Great great great great great great great great great grandfather! That is so freaking cool!!! The name Girouard has been changed so much, because it is pronounced "gewa" so when the English took people prisioner, they wrote the name as they heard it. So there is Gerrior, Gerroir, Giroir, Girroir, Girrior, Girouard... I think there is only a few people with the original spelling, my line is one of them! Yay!!! (Even though my name is now Del Sesto because of my father...but my mother is a Girouard, which makes me one)
Anyway, I am doing an interview with my Uncle and the author of Acadian Awakenings (My 7th Cousin once removed...so yeah...it just seems cool ) for the OSCEmpire
http://www.acadianawakenings.com/ <--- The book site. Bill Gerrior spent basically his whole life making these books and tracing my family back to the Dark Ages!! He even morgaged his house to print these, and he has no idea how he will afford the 5th book...so yeah, check them out damn it . Even if you aren't a Girouard, they are great books for history buffs (like me.)
[/end plug]
But anyway, I have over 300 pictures and all this information and AGH! It's just all so damn cool!!!!!
I'll post more info if anyone cares at all and pictures MANY MANY later.
