Best way to do this is to browse to your C: (or whatever your hard disk is) and then hit Ctrl + A - then hit Alt + Enter or right click any item and hit Properties. Now it could take a little while to count up - once it's done, fill out as follows:

Files: 117,017
Folders: 4,906

After it took like three minutes to count up like 8 gigs of the 47.8 I have of stuff, I got bored with it and hit cancel.

286,793 files counted from root, but I did this under my normal username so the count is a little low...


However, there are 28,935 files in my home directory alone... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif]

To do that would cause my computer to explode.

But at last count, my 200 gigs of crap totalled over 250000 files, but that was at least 6 months ago. I'm sure its grown at least another 50000 since then.

only took me 1 min to count up the whole system so *Shungs*

grand total:
399,432 files
18,750 folders

specs:
475 gig of harddrive space spanned cross 4 harddrive. and as of right now counting 8 linux partition, 4 windows partion, and 1 shared linux/windows partiton, for 13 partition so far.

*shungs* only took me a min or two to get all the numbers bah

77,179 files in 4,135 files, talking up 35,808,483,461 bytes of space and 37,560,156,160 bytes of disk space. It used to be a lot larger, but we formatted a while ago.
