My girlfriend worked as a dental nurse, apparently brushing before is better because you don't swallow all the bacteria in your mouth when you eat your breakfast.

I still brush after though :P I couldn't have breakfast and go to work without brushing them and I'm not gonna brush them before and after breakfast.

I brush my teeth only once a day right before going to sleep. Sometimes I eat after that, tho'

I hardly ever have breakfast, but when I do, I generally brush my teeth afterward. That thing about swallowing bacteria is interesting though...

I use whatever time I would spend having breakfast to sleep more.

It kind of sucks, because I love breakfast. I guess I just love sleep more.

this is generally the case.

If I have to eat and run or if I'm staying in a hotel where breakfast is outside my room, I brush before. Otherwise, if I do end up eating in the morning, it'll be after.

If I didn't eat breakfast, I wouldn't survive the day. And I brush after.

brush before, but not to "protect the teeth", but because the germ thing (dont like the thought of eating the plaque and **** that builds up during the night).

I always brush my teeth before going to sleep, even if it's half an hour in an armchair, otherwise I get a nasty flavor in my mouth. But in the morning I always forget to because I'm asleep pracitally until I get to work. On the rare occasions I do remember, it happens before breakfast (edit: breakfast being a granola bar on the bus).

I brush after breakfast before I go to work. And at the end of the day before I go to bed. Sometimes if I'm going out to meet people I might brush my teeth then too.

Considering that I often only eat breakfast on the days I go to school, I always brush my teeth at home first and then buy breakfast from the cafeteria about a half hour later. For me it usually takes a half hour for the toothpaste taste in my mouth to go away by then so the travel time and the time I get to eat works out quite well.

After. Brushing before is crazy.
"Flowers and a landscape were the only attractions here. And so, as there was no good reason for coming, nobody came."
2008-05-30, 9:28 PM #29
Before, but not for the reasoning in the poll, so I'm not voting.
It's more logical to brush after, yes, but I brush while I'm in the shower, and showering is the first thing I do.
Plus a lot of times I grab breakfast on the way to work rather then at home, so trying to brush after is impractical

***.

I brush my teeth when I wake up, before I go to bed, and if I want to after a meal or am going to meet someone.

I start feeling physically ill by the end of the day if I don't brush them in the morning.
Also, I can kill you with my brain.

before. I wake up, hit the shower, brush my teeth as I'm dossing about in my dressing gown and then if I still have time I'll have breakfast. but I often just eat when I get to work

More importantly, do you floss before or after brushing?

I think if you had a poll that didn't have the weird explanations added on, you'd get more votes for before.
Theres a lot of people saying before in this thread that may not have voted because they have a different reason to the poll reason.
This is why you should never have explanations within the poll options

it is always before and after breakfast

unless you die that day
2008-06-01, 3:08 AM #40
Before. Well, my breakfast is these days whatever if anything at all, but I always drink a glass a juice in the morning (I don't drink coffee), and since juice is often acid it would be a bad idea to first soften the teeth with an acid and then scrape them with a toothbrush.
