Does anyone play any games on their cellphone?
2008-06-02, 4:44 PM #1
Do you, or anyone you know, play games on their cellphone? I'm especially interested if people actually download and/or buy games for their cellphones. I just don't know anyone who's played anything besides the Bejeweled that's come with the phone or the like, but there's got to be somebody out there... I test way too many of them for my job. @_@

See, if they had had computers in the thirties, WWII would have never happened.

No. Controls are pants.

I have an n95, so if I could get something worth playing I probably would. It's just that everything I've played on it is crap.

My Samsung came with a couple of games on it. The only one I play is this one called Freekick, where you take a totally real footballer like "Backhim" or "Henli" and try to score by adjusting direction, power and spin. It's kind of fun. I also downloaded a FIFA game for it, which kind of sucks but I got it for free. I play either of them if I need to pass a few minutes whilst out.

Downloaded a poker game because it had real poker pros in it, it's not bad but the AI is a little predictable sometimes. Works as a time killer.

Been thinking about getting a sudoku game cos I love those things.

I got hooked on a baseball demo that was on my phone, but it had a monthly fee to buy it so that was it for that one...

I got bored on a trip once and downloaded Age of Empires, its actually not too bad. Only crappy thing was a 25 population limit.

Yup. They used to, but then they stopped. You can d/l demos but even that costs airtime @ the data rate. Not really worth it.

xbox magazine has a whole section dedicated to cell phone gaming, like 10-20 pages each issue. Totally lame, all the games look like they suck. Tetris rules but it's difficult using the phone keys.

I used to play Snake on my old phone. Now I just play the Tetris demo over and over because I'm too cheap to actually buy the game.

A friend of mine bought some crappy CoD2 game, never plays it. He later bought Tetris and plays it a lot to kill time.

That's the only person I know of.

My brother had a really crappy bowling game on his old Nokia phone, I played that a few times. My Samsung phone did not come with any games installed, and I don't feel like wasting money on a cell phone game.

Do you have a touchscreen?

I don't understand how an adventure game would work without a mouse. Unless maybe you could arrow over?
2008-06-03, 12:49 PM #33
Yeah, you move the mouse with the arrow-keys. Not ideal but it works.
Sorry for the lousy German

I have Scrabble, Monopoly, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved Mobile, and Super Monkey Ball: Tip 'n Tilt installed on my phone. The only one that has not proved worthwile is the Super Monkey Ball one. In stituations where I need to kill time, they work wonders.

I bought/downloaded Doom RPG, I play it when I get stuck at airports, or waiting in various places. The gameplay is fairly simplistic, but the graphics are acceptable and using chainguns, shotguns etc on zombies, archviles, revenants, cacodemons is reasonably entertaining.

There are a few other PCish games I wouldn't mind having on my mobile as time-killers, but the OS is some nanky java thing which doesn't support much.
