that's what my college will allow per day for my internet usage, i've been on 56k, so as long as im note d/ling all the time i should be ok just playing games?

yes.
i get 15GB/month (10 down and 5 up) from my ISP and i've never gone over. even when i've dl'ed 2 distros of linux in the same month.

Mine is strange. Apparently I'm not allowed to download 3gb/day on 3 days in a 2 week period... I often download over 3gb/day and nothing has ever happened.

1gb/day isn't that much. :-\

Haha, silly canadians!

Seriously, it'd suck to have a Canadian ISP. Almost all of them cap you for a certain amount of gigs per month. I use anywhere from 40-100 gigs (yeah, I know, it's insane) a month. I've figured it up for a couple of them, and then estimated for game bandwidth.

You'll find that most schools don't even enforce those limits unless excessive bandwidth usage really becomes a problem.

For lots of them, the most they'll ever do is just cap your download at something like 64 Kb/s per connection and cap your upload at 64 Kb/s for the rest of the day if you go over.

I love my ISP. Everyone around here who has broadband has it, (adelphia), and we have no idea what the cap is. My friend downloaded ~70 gigs of stuff in a month in an attempt to reach the cap, but he still didn't.

I'm uncapped, Canadian, and my service is ~26 USD/month for 3mpbs access. I don't know how I'd live in places with super-expensive bandwidth. (UK, AUS)

And yeah, 40-100gigs is insane.... You realize that games use barely any bandwidth?

I'm uncapped, but almost positive that my college has insufficient bandwidth available for my consumption needs.

At home I obviously have no magical caps, and sometimes download 6 GB in a day

26 USD is what you call CHEAP? I get my 3.5mbps service for 9 bucks a month. Games also require a lot more bandwidth than you think *cough BF1942 cough*.
