Dark Forces can run in XP just fine, but you have to use the compatibility installer on the back of the Dark Forces disc when you install to your hard drive so that newer hardware will work on such an old, but timeless game.

First just flip the cd over in the drive's tray so the shiny side is up and then close the drive again. Next, go to the start menu, and choose "Run." Enter "cmd" (without the quotes) and your command prompt comes up. Enter into your command prompt "tskill svchost" (again without quotes). Tskill is short for Tray-Skill (the drive has to know it's reading a flipped disc), and svchost stands for Service: Compatability Host (the compatibility installer on the disc).

From here you can install Dark Forces like normal. Once you're in the game you hold num-lock to get a screenshot.

I'd just run it in DosBox, myself.
Also, I can kill you with my brain.
