Does anyone know of any grants that could help out an organization working to decriminalize marijuana? If you could help out by looking here, that would be fantastic, there's a full list of goverment grants there.

To be fair, smoking is a scapegoat for many of society's ills, and most of it is not deserved. As far as marijuana, the reason it's illegal has nothing to do with its effects. It has to do with the fact the government hates hippies and therefore makes illegal anything that they associate with hippies. It's one of the few issues the right and left meet on. Marijuana itself will not kill you or give you cancer (okay, it might, but then again, so does chewing gum, so you really have to take that with a grain of salt) and the only real reason to restrict it is because of the inebriating effects it has (similar to alcohol in many ways). I believe that if marijuana was just controlled in a manner similar to alcohol, there would be no problem. The fact is, people who want marijuana are going to get it whether it's legal or not.

As for smoking period, I happen to enjoy Garcia Vega cigars (mostly Royal Coronas in the beige tubes) from time to time and I happen to know many smokers of everything ranging from cigarettes to weed. Much of the country uses these things. To say that if you need it you are a loser is not fair. Maybe people should be able to get by without it, but everyone has their vices. People should also be able to get by without living a second life on a Star Wars web forum, but here we are. Think before you judge.

As for smoking llamas, oh man, I gotta try that now.

It's a lie that you're less likely to get lung cancer from weed as opposed to getting it from tobacco smoke. Whoever made that up is mentally challenged. But how many weed smokers do you know that chain smoke joints all day and every 15 minutes at work? ... It has nothing to do with how likely it is to get it, just the fact that people don't smoke as much weed as tobacco (I would hope).

I think the dudes point was if you have to blur reality to have pleasure in it then you need to reexamine yourself.

Right. The difference between alchohol and weed is that alchohol doesn't screw you up with the first sip. It is possible to enjoy alchohol responsibly.

No it isn't a lie, for exactly the same reasons that cigar smoke is healthier for you than cigarette smoke. When you smoke a cigar, you're smoking tobacco leaf. Pure tobacco leaf. Cigarettes are like Cheese Whiz to a cigar's cheddar. It's technically still eating cheese, but it's also like eating pure gelatinous death.

But it is also worth saying that you inhale very deeply when you're smoking pot. Cigarette smoke is filtered.
