Isanely Good Movies

*Insanely

Well, I recently discovered that Equilibrium is one of the better movies in existence. And I realized - how many other amazing movies are there that I haven't seen? And thus, I have started a list of films which I plan to see in the near future. Please make some suggestions of most excellent movies that I likely have not yet seen.

Current list:

Donnie Darko
Reservoir Dogs
Goodfellas
Alien
Hard Boiled

Added:
Pulp Fiction

Pulp Fiction. Well, if you haven't seen some of the other must-sees on your list, you might not have seen it [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

I too propose Pulp Fiction (despite Wolfy not liking it and thinking the dialouge to be "mediocre at best"

And yes, BTTF is great. I never get tired of watching it. Maybe the 3rd one gets a bit tiring. The first one is so good though.

Mean Streets (to be honest I think it's slightly overrated by critics and pales in comparions to the brilliance of GoodFellas, but it's still a great film)

Dr. Strangelove (you've probably seen it already, but if you haven't you should. One of the best films ever made)

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (yeah, it's pretty recent and you've probably seen it, but I'm amazed at the number of people I know who haven't seen it- brilliant film)

Pi (or: what Darren Aronofsky did before Requiem for a Dream. Cracking low-budget film)

Dark City (I'm not much of a fan of The Crow, but I loved this film from the same director (Alex Proyas), a bizarre mixture of film noir and science fiction. Mute it for the first 5-10 minutes- the studio-enforced voiceover answers questions too quickly)

DOA (great film noir from the 1950s with a slightly wacky premise- a man runs into a police station to report his own murder (he's been poisoned). The story gets overly complex and the twists go beyond absurd, but it's a fun ride. Apparantly there's a remake with Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan. I'd stick to the original.)

The King of Comedy (or: The Other Scorsese/De Niro film. Brilliant and disturbing drama/black comedy about an amateur comedian who becomes obsessed with a talk show host.)

Cookies for Michael and Haggis for Boondock Saints and Dark City. They're both awesome.

The Big Lebowski should be added to that list.

D'oh...should've remembered that; I watched it again the other day. Also worthy of praise is Fargo (which is superb film and, in my opinion, the best from the Coen Brothers) and O Brother Where Art Thou?.

So many bad movies on this list...

So instead of correcting you all I propose Collateral (which I just got back form seeing). I also proppose we remove the Boondock Saints, as it sucks more than even Fight Club.

Fight Club

Can't think of any others right now.
