I've noticed different items on the dollar menu in different areas. Maybe it's a regional thing.

I love assigned seating. That way I can buy the ticket well in advance, go to a restaurant before the movie starts and then walk cassualy into the theater with the assurance that I'll get exactly the place I bought. Even better when I'm in a big group with friends who of course want to sit together.
But we're also let in after the commercials started.

I wouldn't want to sit there for an hour just to save my seat.
