The X-Files: I Want to Believe

I just got back from the midnight premier of this movie. It was probably one of the worst movies I've seen in theatres for a few years now. The whole movie is a joke especially the scene in the middle of the credits . The movie tries too hard with the cameos, to the point where they hold on shots of past characters just to let the audience have time to clap that they're on screen again.

Oh, and worst scene?
There's a portrait of President Bush on the wall and they play the classic X-File cue when the camera focuses on him.

Really? $10.00 and I get something that seems it could have been made by one of the Wayan brothers. I loved X-Files, and the first movie, but this was just terrible...

Yeah, I loved the first one, I just don't understand what went wrong with this one.

I do. They forgot what the plot was going to be.

Apparently, they planned a second movie back when they made the first, and had it all planned out on index cards. Sometime during the legal battles the X-Files creator had with FOX, the cards got lost. So finally when the time came when they were able to make the movie, the plot was lost and they had to piece together something from memory.

That's really disappointing. I loved the X-Files, own the first flick, and was looking forward to this one. If it's as bad as you say, I may pass and wait until I can rent it on DVD.

Ugh. I was excited about this, but I knew it was going to suck.

Its sad that the acting chops of everyone in this movie was also dumbed down to Xzibit's level too. Its a surprise to see someone like Gillian Anderson, who has really taken off as an actress do so poorly. The only person who embodied his character again was Skinner .

Also, if you bother to see it, get ready for the worst greenscreen shot ever as Amanda Peet's character falls to her death .

Actually he's one of the better actors in the movie.

Well, there's the last nail in coffin. A shame, too, because the actual hook is pretty good. They could have done so much with the body swapping but instead they play up the lame psychic shtick.

It wasn't awful, certainly not the worst movie I've seen by any stretch, but it wasn't particularly good, either. I'm a big x-files fan, and they pretty much just disregarded the last season of the show.

Wait, isn't that a good thing?

(Except for the finale)
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Well, the final episode and season was very open ended, and this movie really didn't address any of that at all, it was just sort of self-contained.

Carter mentioned he wants to make a third movie hat will address the mythology, and I think if they released a third movie on December 22, 2012, it'd be freaking awesome. (Fans of the show will know why)

I've barely watched 2 episodes of X-Files but I assume the 2012 thing is the end of the world according to the Mayan long calendar. Am I right?

Yes - well a large-scale alien invasion.

I just saw it.

It was very meh.

But I liked seeing Mulder and Scully chemistry again. It just wasn't enough in the series finale.
