Soulcalibur IV

No that's not a typo, the title is suppose to be one word. So anyone picked it up for their 360 or PS3? I haven't played enough of the game to comment on the fighting engine (nor am enough of a hardcore fighting gamer), but it's a pretty fun game so far.

Vader is absolutely powerful in this game and he can be a bit cheap with his force powers. If you don't stand up quick enough, Vader can use force throws on you. Yoda is even cheaper from what I heard. He is impossible to throw and a lot of high attacks miss him. The Apprentice (Force Unleashed) is also suppose to be another powerful character, but I have yet to unlock him. Supposedly he's pretty tough to, but throws can be spammed to kill him easily.

For better or for worse, you can't create jedi characters with Create A Soul. I guess Namco doesn't want to see everyone use jedi characters online or they're afraid of seeing a bunch of created Star Wars characters.

By the way, don't worry about the exclusive characters. Each exclusive character will come to the other console in the future as downloadable content or as unlockables. Maybe all will be revealed when Clone Wars hit theater?

So The Apprentice is in there to advertise for Force Unleashed I assume? If FU bombs, I would laugh because, years later, no one would care about him.

I played an early build of this through a friend and was highly unimpressed. I guess they've gotten further and further away from why I loved the first Soul Calibur. And trust me, I loved it. I'm still one of the best SCII players in my area.

I did not think they could make a lightsaber fight so lame.

Every bit of news I've heard of this one made me gag. The first two were great, but I don't even want to touch IV. :(

It reminds me of Masters of Teräs Käsi the more I watch it.

Soul Blade was great, Soulcalibur was great, Soulcalibur 2 was ever better, but the last one... I don't have high hopes.
nope.

They aren't lightsabers. They are lightbats.

Pretty much. Otherwise the lightsabers would slash right through the swords, scythe, and rods of other characters.

I just tried my first online match against a friend of mine. Needless to say, I was bested pretty bad by her. The biggest issue I had was with the input lag. It seems like when I press a button, the move doesn't perform right away as it does offline. The timing really throw me off especially when I attempt guard impacts and combos.

She was good though so I'm not going to blame all my losses on my lag.
