They'd probably make for nice phones when I am at practice or jump in the studio though. Sure they're no senheiser or AKG's but they seem like they'd do the job pretty nicely.

Earphones are good for on the go kinda stuff, but headphones are FAR better for studio work, or PC entertainment.

Agreed.

I was hoping they were going to be selling pipes or something.
nope.

I grabbed these back in February. They're great -- the treble is a bit "smooth" and the bass is super-pronounced because they're supposed to be gaming headphones, but in general they're pretty awesome. Vegie is right, though -- they're HUGE (and imagining them on Kirbs is sort of funny :p)

Also, I'm going to use a winder and use them for casual listening with my ipod. My old headphones were really big too.

Eh, it's much better to just stuff the whole set in your pocket and go. That's where the advantage of earbuds come in. Not all of us have a wheelchair in which to carry around their man-purse... I mean "carry all" of crap.

Headphones made by gaming companies are terrible. Really, they all suck.

Basically the Etymotic ER-4 is the most amazing headphone ever created. Aside from the high end Ultimate Ears models, which are ten times the cost, they provide more detail and clarity than any other headphone ever made. To get the same quality in speakers you would have to spend 80 times as much. I'm going by the actual street price by the way, which is half what they list.

So awesome. :awesome:

If your not being sarcastic, I was considering picking a pair of those up, are they really worth it?

I think he's inferring earbuds, not IEMs. Besides, IEMs can be terribly uncomfortable depending on the person (like me).
2008-08-02, 2:32 AM #26
I can't fit earbuds into my messed up ears, and even if I could, I'm way too ick about things touching my ears. All of my headphones have to have a wide enough reach to not touch my ears otherwise I get creeped out after a while and simply have to take them off.

I may have exaggerated a little but yes, they are completely amazing. The only problem is the lack of bass, which equalization fixes just fine.

Just remember, instead of increasing the bass frequencies, drop all the others and increase the volume. You'll get distortion otherwise.

Well I've got a crappy pair of $10 sonys so I'm sure the bass is probably much better then what I'm working with now.

That thing has so many compression artifacts, you could probably cut resolution by a factor of four with out losing any detail. Maybe even more.

Curious, did you ever try the foam plugs? The silicone ones are terrible for me but foam is great. Too bad they are kind of expensive. I'm going to experiment with making my own. I might just shell out the cash to get custom molds, it would be cheaper in the long run.
