again...

Its about 2 or 3 years old running windows XP. The issue is slow internet. Really really painfully slow. There doesnt appear to be a virus ( or so the scanner says) and no programs are running. The internet is running fine on the 2 laptops (hooked up through wireless).

Any ideas on where I should start looking?

did you check for spy ware/ad ware?

Is it only slow on their computer? (not a modem/router issue?)
See if there are better drivers for the NIC.

Yea the internet is fine on this laptop (which is wireless but still the same router).

And... NIC?

So i cant install spybot because theres little to no internet connection >_<

Try deleting Intarnetz Exploder and having them use a more sophisticated browser like Opera.

i had to fix the internet today for my mom, it wasn't showing up on only one laptop and all it needed was the right password for the wireless

Scan from a boot CD or DVD. Not from Windows.

Well its fixed now. We'll see how long it lasts until they manage to kill it again.

(Oh right I forgot to mention. there was just under 3gb of temporary files on the computer >_<)
