Nice idea, haha. Negative viral opinion mitigation.

Yeah, if you're using vista for 15 minutes on clean hardware with a fresh install with no software or drivers issues, vista can be alright.

The idea is funny, but the reactions sound a bit too... amazed? I mean, seriously, Vista isn't that different from XP in the first place.

The problem is that MS focused their marketing on the user interface, which was bound to fail because of comparisons to Mac.

Vista, since SP1, has been fine. They fixed a lot of the driver problems (on the vendor side) and a lot of the crashy issues. There's some annoying aspects but if you know what you're doing those can be changed.

I plan on upgrading once I get a 4850.

Oh, and as an aside (didn't think this merited its own thread) I saw 4850's/4870's at best buy for about 10 bucks more than they are on newegg. Not a bad deal.

I like vista.

Most people that have actually used Vista and didn't listen to the ridiculous media FUD like it.

the only annoying thing about vista is its constant "are you sure you want to run this", other than that, it is fine. I still havent gotten totaly accustommed to the UI yet, as I still use XP on my main computer, and only my laptop has Vista on it.

You can turn off UAC. I have turned off all the Vista fluff but I still don't like it when compared to WinXP. Looking forward to Mojave though.

The funny thing is, OSX does the same thing even though they denounce it in their commercials. Anytime you try to run something youve downloaded it give you a dialogue asking if youre sure.

Anyway... I dont mind vista at all.

All these people seem to be against Vista to begin with, and have several reasons to not like the software in the first place. Then when they use it, they are shocked by all the features that EVERYONE who is technically inclined KNOWS are in Vista.

Whether they've got actors or just pure idiots, this is some of the stupidest marketing I've ever seen.

Er, that's just the point. People bash Vista without actually knowing anything about it.

So they market it by having people praise Vista without knowing anything about it?

They record people who have never used or really seen Vista before making negative comments about Vista that are based off of the various statements they've heard from others (some in the know, and others not, as well as commercials (Apple's in particular)), who also are unlikely to upgrade to Vista as a result because they are afraid of "all the problems it has" and such. Then they give these people a "sneak preview" of "Windows Mojave" and record their reactions of how great it is. Then they're told it's Vista, theoretically changing their opinion of Vista, increasing their chances of upgrading to Vista in the future.

It's a great way of saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" and to not listen to everything you hear from others and on TV.

You obviously don't know much about marketing. This is getting around to the regular people and business people--those who don't know a lot about technology but spend a lot of money on it because they want to be on the cutting edge.

This is a pretty good idea and I think Microsoft's finally coming up with an intelligent advertisement plan to fight back against the mac bashing. Good luck to 'em.
