I'm considering buying a used motorcycle to get around town while I'm in college. Is there anything I should know about, or a particular manufacturer to avoid? What kind of motorcycle experiences do some of you have?
I've worked at an ATV repair shop for six months, so I'm not mechanically incompetent, but motorcycles are a little new to me. Right now I have a '73 kawasaki 175 and it's pretty easy to work on and keep running. My assumption is that a newer motorcycle (newer than 1973) will not be too much trouble to keep running if it's been taken care of.
I've heard a lot about Honda being reliable, and that's what I want more than speed or looks, although I do prefer the look of older motorcycles.
