Has anyone tried it yet? I'm downloading it now but I'm concerned everything is going to be in turk gibberish.

Someone said it was a scam. Apparently not.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
2008-08-12, 10:51 AM #3
I think it's just a couple of maps other people did.
2008-08-12, 10:53 AM #4
Yeah, I noticed alot of maps from years ago and alot of skins I used to have, I wonder if they got permission for any of it?

Also after looking at the screenshots I'd say its more then a couple there obi :psyduck:

It's garbage. Ignore it.

KotF is a scam. They aren't producing any work; its just a collection of other people's maps, models, and stuff. The videos released don't show anything modded. The head man, some d*ck from Turkey, is trying to profit off of his "mod".

The whole thing is a joke. They are just going to delay the release because they don't have anything worthwhile to show. They delayed the "mod" release for YEARS. Family issues and computer problems can only go for so long before any moron with half a brain can figure out that KotF is a load of ****. They censor any complaints or criticism from people on the site and only allow people who blindly follow Tim to speak on behalf of the mod (they are also the ones donating money).

If you want a better JA mod with alot of good content, go : www.moviebattles.com

Tim actually posted here on Massassi many, many years ago (under alias TimFX). He was turned down hard and insulted because he tried to pass off stolen content as a mod in the eyes of Massassi. Back when Massassi was more fiercer and downright irritable when provoked.

Oh they actually released something this time? Haven't been bothered to find out.

Yes, compare it to vanilla JA. Don't get fooled by Menu changes and such, those can be changed easily.

Yeah, my first clue was looking at the "new maps" screenshots, I saw alot of levels on the filefront site for jedi academy. Especially the episode 3 levels from that one level pack everyone was going nuts over. Those never worked for me =/

I was actually told once it might have one of my skins in it.

If it does and it's legit after all [Which it isn't] then it obviously must suck. Partly because of the quality, partly because I never made any real star wars skins. :P
nope.

Well, since it is freely downloadable, maybe somebody can report in with impressions after actually playing it. Novel idea.

Who gives a crap how good it is if it's all stolen?
2008-08-12, 2:42 PM #13
I have played it, and I actually enjoyed it. Being able to play through any original JA level as any character with respective abilities is sweet.

The spawn an enemy/ally feature is sweet. Combining it with the compilation of maps from the community, makes it like a "build your own scenario" type deal.

Despite what many have said here, the mod was quite enjoyable. I can attest that it was not complete garbage.

Can't you do most of that through the console anyway?
nope.

I don't agree with that notion, either. Custom made content for the game is in the public domain as soon as it is released. It can't be "stolen". It could be, in a sense, plagiarized if no credit is given to the author of the original content.

You show me all the credits to the original authors and we'll talk.

The term "stolen" here is being used to describe plagerized work. As far as I can remember, when he first started toting his totally pimping mod he was giving the impression it was his own work. I don't know what the situation is now and I don't really care.

No, because of all the new npc's.

I mean, you could, but

A. It would take a while to learn the new npc names
B. It would take foooorrreeevvveerrr

I believe most original authors are credited in the FAQ, or readme included with the file.

Wookie: IIRC most of the bad blood is due to this guy attempting to pass off other people's work as his own and his attempt to make money off of it.

edit - and for being a jerk on the internet. Though I think you're technically correct about this: Custom made content for the game is in the public domain as soon as it is released.

You're the admin at a Star Wars games site maybe you could heed my call for somebody to report in after playing it. Then again, you seem to have some other grand scheme for Massassi anyway.

The Ewok village looks suspiciously like a map that Freelancer or someone else around here made years ago.

"Most" doesn't count. If this was submitted to Massassi, every author would need to be credited. Not to mention there was the whole common courtesy of asking the author's permission.

Maybe so you could come across as actually knowing what you're talking about. At least then you could truly set yourself above me.

I wouldn't say I have no clue but considering that I am not an attorney I certainly don't feel particularly qualified on the manner. In this case, unless you are making some other ridiculous assertion, the point is moot since authors of custom made content are not the copyright holders. So unless you are making a case that LEC has some action against KotF "creator" your criticism seems invalid and unwarranted. I did concede that he could be guilty of plagiarism however it certainly wouldn't be legally actionable, in my ever so humble opinion.

This isn't a question of legality, but morality.
This 'creator' of this 'mod' has a history here, trying to take credit for other peoples work, trying to make money out of it...
It's easy to see why people like CM have no desire to try it.

According to the JK readme LEC basically owns any JK levels...IIRC there was a section in the JO manual about mods, it might say who owns what.
