This is what the photographer said in the comments section:

Thanks a lot :) This is indeed a HDR photo with some filters added in photoshop to tune down the effect. In fact I just bought my Sony a350 a month ago. I'm now using the kit lens 18-70mm F3.5-5.6. That photo was taken at a height at a setting of 55mm, F/8 at 3 different shutter speeds.

I love interfacelift. They post a new wallpaper everyday.

Hopefully one day they'll post one of the 15 something wallpapers I submited :P
