Question 1 :

I've already started a topic on this a few months back, and looked into it, but I thought I'd poke around here in case there was someone who's more involved in the Unreal Tournament III / (UE3) modding scene.

Is it worthwhile to get into mapping for this game / engine?

Question 2 :

I'm looking for a good large-scale multiplayer game on the Xbox 360 to play. Something similar to Battlefield / Battlefield 2 with a large player base would be fun. I realise that there's a lot of dumb kiddies playing over Live, but I've encountered my share on the PC too, and currently, my computer cannot handle recent games all to well.

Plus I wanna put the xbox 360 I've had for 2 years and only used to play Gears to use.

I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but Battlefield: Bad Company has 24 player games and runs on dedicated PC servers. CoD4 also has great MP, but I think it's limited to 16 player games and is player-hosted.

I never considered any UT game to be easy to edit. The editor just does not make sense to me. But in all fairness, I have only working in the original UT, and dabbed a bit in UT2k3

If I remember right, its a negative space engine, rather than one like source where you use bricks so to speak.

I came from a background of editing JK, Q3 & all it's spin offs, and Halo and I really like editing ut3.

Keep in mind that it's not perfect, there are many aspects that feel very cumbersome and tedious or just needlessly complicated. There are also some facepalm moments like how aspects of terrain editing can not be undone.

With that said, it is a very capable editor. It's very powerful and once you get the hang of it, can be very fun to use.

[edit]@Jep, it actualy has the option of building in additive or subtractive. Additive is much better. but you can build the entire level out of static meshes if you like, brushes are not neccessary for the geometry of the level.

AFAIK UT3 (maybe the collector's edition) comes with some great editing resources...there's a bonus DVD of video tutorials.

It should be noted that the game itself, though, is absolute crap.

I disagree. I quite enjoy the game.
