What have you named your hard/thumb drives?

Here are mine.

Mortimer - 600GB internal (for OS, programs, and misc)
Manco - 1TB firewire external (for video captures)
Indio - 8GB USB thumb (for photos)
Tuco - 8GB USB thumb (for Final Cut/Premiere project files)

I have appropriate icons for each.

My wireless network is called "GoldEcstasy".

What clever names do you have?

Well, as far as networked stuff goes, I've got:

\\Dargo
D:\ - Media
\\Chiana
C:\ - Local Disk
F:\ - Other Files
G:\ - Backup of C
H:\ - Backup of F
\\Rygel
C:\
\\Leonidus
D:\ - Media

In my defense, my roommate's girlfriend named Leonidus. She has a thing for skimpily-dressed muscular men, apparently.

Though, now that I think about it, my laptop should be named Rygel, not my desktop.

people actually take the time to name their drives?? I thought letters were substantial enough.

It isn't like it takes days to rename a drive, so there's no real significant time spent doing it.

C: actually a subst folder at boot
G: Local Disk
H: Local Disk
I: Utility USB Stick
N: Data USB Stick
X: External HD
Z: Emergency USB Stick

Because of my odd system setup, drive names can get reset after connecting new devices (which force their way into C: )

Don't actually have D, but E, F, J, K, L and M are all used in the middle, external used to be S (after leaving some room for expansion) but that was actually causing problems with other devices that demanded to use R: and S:

X was just out of the way.

C: Windows
D: Programs
E: Anime
G: Windows (old drive that's dying/dead and haven't removed out of laziness)
I: Storage
N: Windows Bak (External, 2 partitions, the other is my Time Machine backup for my laptop)

I know, really original.
2008-08-22, 11:01 PM #24
Internal HD has two partitions: "Windows" and "Macintosh HD"
External 80GB: "Substance"
External 250GB: "Porsche"
External 4GB microdrive: "Mini"

Only my magnetic drives have names like that. All my solid-state drives have my full name as drive labels in case they get lost.

I have now lost or destroyed all my iPods, but when I had them....

Indestructible (this was my second or third after the previous ones has been crushed)
Debonair (black iPod)
Oil Baron (silver iPod Nano newest generation, won it at a Chevron raffle)

And while I don't name drives, my PC was always GrisBox and my latpop, Gristop. :D

In Norse mythology, Skíðblaðnir (the name can be anglicized as Skídbladnir, Skídhbladhnir or Skíthblathnir) is the ship of Freyr. The ship was made by Dvalin and his brothers, dwarves and sons of Ívaldi. It was made at the request of Loki, and was given to Freyr as part of Loki's reparation for the theft of Sif's golden hair. The ship was big enough to hold the whole of the host of Asgard, and whenever the sails were hoisted, a fair wind followed. It could travel over both land and sea. According to the Ynglinga saga, Skíðblaðnir was made by so many parts and with such ingenuity that it could be folded like a cloth and carried in one's pouch.
