Inspiration Superthread

Inspiration is arguably the most important asset to an artist. Maybe I'm just a talentless hack, but I feel empty if I don't have source material to guide my work. I'd like to make a superthread linking resources, lists, and blogs that inspire you when working on anything.

Websites that'll work: last.fm for listening while drawing, a list of old movie posters, a blog with lots of tutorials on it, a service like ffffound that helps you find pictures, A writing community, etc.

Websites that won't work: A specific photoshop tutorial, a single painting, a touching story, and anything else singular and highly selective.

If anyone has better suggestions for organizing the first posts, feel free to suggest!

Inspiration is overrated. Einstein said it. Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.

Someone needs to inspire JM to look up his sources.
the idiot is the person who follows the idiot and your not following me your insulting me your following the path of a idiot so that makes you the idiot - LC Tusken

Considering Edison has like 2 original inventions, I think your argument is rather ironic.

Can we please just suggest websites or discuss the sites posted so far (I've got more)?

Without that 1% there is no point to the 99%

This is just silly. People find vastly different things to be "inspirational." You can't possibly make a super-thread conglomeration of links because that defeats the purpose of it being inspirational. The human factor.

For example, the stuff that I find interesting and stimulating are often architectural related. I have books and sites pointing to the work of various architects but I doubt someone who isn't into this stuff will feel the same way. For the sake of this thread not sucking of Paris Hilton proportions would be for people just show personal links in personal posts, not create some godawful terrible list that's as inaccessible and unmoving to different users.

That's why there's a link to furniture design, too. A list of lots of different inspirational websites might inspire any number of people. I find architecture inspiring, too. If you and I are the only ones that get inspiration out of that, then it's good enough to go on my list. I don't see why making a list is such a big problem. It can't hurt. The only thing that can hurt are useless posts that do nothing towards the goal of inspiring people.

To be honest, I find our solar system to be quite inspiring. Now if we could just get our asses off this planet, then we're talking.
