So do we really need mods like Jedi Legend?

Its pretty pathetic to blow a fuse, bad day or not, because someone doesn't quite follow the point of your thread or doesn't get it.

I don't think we need mods like this.

To quote him :

Oh, and I'm not really all that concerned about the Massassi community and whether or not it makes my life better.

I never even realised Jedi Legend is a mod.

But yeah that was just a smidge of overreaction from him. :P
nope.

It's not really my place to defend myself, here. It is what it is. I didn't act in a really appropriate way, but I also only opened/closed my own thread and basically left the rest of the forum alone. The thread in question is closed. I owe Vincent Valentine a private message (when I'm done with my first day of classes), but that's no ones business here.

I would ask that the context of the quote Jep provides is reconsidered. I was just trying to make the point that I *did* overreact when I acted like the closing of my thread was some how depriving me of necessary community interaction. I was truly venting on "real life" problems when my "real life" friends were unavailable to me. That's not really a good use of an internet forum. I understand that. I didn't want people to think that I think that Massassi is my only outlet for my personal life because that is absurd. In that sense, I don't "care" about Massassi as I do my family and friends, the faces that I have met. But that doesn't mean I haven't formed significant interactions with members of this community, nor does it mean that I don't care.

I don't have anything against him personally, but since I can't remember ever seeing him do any moderating (even if he has), I'm going to say no.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I've probably missed something since I don't remember seeing Jedi Legend in 4 years.

Hum.

It was weird to see a Bohemian Rhapsody thread closed like that, because I remember them quite well. As far as mod worthiness, he didn't do anything terrible. Vin closed his legitimate/nostalgic thread, and he got mad on a bad day, vented, then reopened a thread. So whatever.

Plus Vin apologized about it anyways, so lets move on... :tfti:

Considering Massassi's purpose (JK/JO/JA) are all on the very edge of being forgotten by the world, what else is this place for except to complain to people and hear their comical responses. I mean, on a usual day around here you can't ask a question to anyone without being called a moron by at least 3 members. The only use this place really has is the use it ever had, mod info and files for the above mentioned games.

I use it as a means to burn time at work when by chance all the machines here are actually working.

DSettahr and MikeC were pretty much the best admins this place had. Don't remember much of the rest.

They're crap threads anyway (the Bohemian Rhapsody ones). The last, like, 8 have been either derailed or closed, so surely the tradition is now to spoil them regardless :P

Any dolt with half a brain
Can see that humankind has gone insane
To the point where I don’t know if I’ll upset the status quo
If I throw poison in the watermain.

Listen close to everybody’s heart
And hear that breaking sound
Hopes and dreams are shattering apart
And crashing to the ground

I cannot believe my eyes
How the world’s filled with filth and lies
but it’s plain to see evil inside of me
is on the rise.

Me too.
I'd never even heard of this jedi legend guy, and I read this thread before the bohemian rhapsody one.
And that thread gets my vote for massassi's biggest over-reaction ever.

No idea. According to some he was drafted into Iraq but... I don't even remember him being in the army so who knows.

I like JL and I think his behavior on the other thread can be understood, even if not agreed with or believed to be excessive, given his circumstances at that time. [Basically what dud said]

I think it probably would have been better to just delete the irrelevant posts on the other thread, though, and keep it open, rather than closing it.

In my eyes, bad day or not, as a mod you have responsibilities. In any case it doesn't really matter, I just found the situation rather funny and petty.

Not having looked at JL's thread, I just assumed it was closed because those kinds of threads are stupid and have been done to death.

Turns out it's a bawww fest.

Don't you think that's a little arrogant? Have a little humility. He's an unpaid moderator who made no bans, threats, or moderator-related mistakes. He simply got upset and disagreed with another moderator. I don't really think that's irresponsible, and I also think it's pretty belittling for you to call someone's ****ty-day-breakdown "pathetic." You must never have bad days.

Freelancer has been making that post for years. If you removed all of his apathy posts, his post count would plummet.

Honestly, I don't think its arrogant of me. The situation was undeserving of its own thread and criticism perhaps, yes, I agree. However, when I'm given a job as moderator I take it seriously, no matter what website it might be, no matter what the attitude of the community is. My standards for moderators however may not apply to this website since its mostly about the same core of people who have been doing this for nearly a decade, and where favoritism has always had its place. Whether thats good or bad is open to debate, however.

When I have bad days I don't throw a pathetic hissy pissy fit. At my worste I've posted a thread about my woes, but even then, I didn't explode like some half-crazy bi-polar fool. When I make silly little threads and I'm told they're dumb I just laugh it up and either let it die or continue posting silly stuff. I don't tear hell apart because people didn't like my idea.

And may I point out that they removed the ability for us to close our own threads for a reason?

This thread is about MY opinion. Perhaps it was unjust to point the finger the way I did it, and just like any other thread everyone's welcome to debate and disagree with me or others. Thats what forums are for.
