Computer trouble

Just got the computer EAH_TRISCUIT sent me. I can't seem to get anything to display on the monitor. I tried using both analog and digital cables for my monitor. I also tried removing the video card and using the onboard video. No luck. I then tried using a videocard which I know works, and still no luck. Also, when the computer is powered on, the disk drive won't open. Perhaps its a power issue?

Dont really know how else to troubleshoot this one

Hmmm darn. I would try reseating just about everything , ram, cpu, ect. Does anything spin up when you turn the power on? I would just check all the connections. I'm gonna have to start thinking about Fedex or something, UPS has been brutal on my stuff lately.

Yeah, I'll try that next. Was the removable sidepanel dented when you sent it? Its got a nice big dent, looks like it was kicked or something.
All of the fans and lights turn on.

Just tried reseating the ram and cpu. The cpu wasn't in properly, though reseating doesnt seem to have helped any. Still looking for the reset jumper

You could always just pull the cmos battery for an extended time. I dont remember exactly what motherboard that one has, but the reset jumper is usually near the battery. It's starting to sound like the motherboard got damaged. :(

Yeah, batteries out now. If the motherboard is the trouble I have another old computer here, I'll throw the best working bits of each in and have something decent to give to my friend. Its kind of funny, I opened the package and thought that it looked well packed. UPS must have been pretty savage with it.

Yeah I thought I did a good job packing too. This idea is a long shot, but check the 115v/230v selector on the power supply and make sure its in the correct position. Anyway good luck.

UPS sucks if its not packaged extremely well. Fedex isnt much better. I've never sent anything big USPS... worth a shot?

USPS is terrible, and they usually use FedEX to take it most of the way. But it always ends up at my doorstep in "freshly mutilated" condition.

People in the unload like to jump on packages, and throw them against walls. People in the load like to step on packages, and toss them repeatedly to the top of a wall.
