How long is your console?

I vote 2009. XBox was out for 4 years before 360, and the 360 is coming up on it's 3-year anniversary this November.

But the 360 was also announced more than a year before it's release. Undoubtably Microsoft is working on a 720 or something with an equally stupid name, but wouldn't we have started seeing glimpses of it already?

The 360 has at least a couple more years of life in it in my opinion. They're just now releasing a new menu system this fall, I doubt they'd do that if they were announcing a new console just next year.

The more "next gen" a system is, the longer the games take to make, the longer the system's lifetime is, and for good measure: the more $10-15 games are made.

No, they're current gen. Next-gen is ALWAYS something that hasn't been released yet.

playstation is current generation, ps2 is next-gen, the consoles out now are science-fiction.
