I've had this game pre-ordered since the last gameplay videos were released. I still get a shiver when Ron Perlman speaks on the teaser trailer they released ages ago.

Am I the only one who can't get excited over this? Besides it being a game to the Fallout series, nothing really interests me in this.

BUT if the PC version is mod-able, like Oblivion, then I can see the interest growing.

My first impression is that the website's artwork is reminiscent of the look Bioshock was going for.

Bioshock and Oblivion had a baby and STALKER is jealous of his younger brother already.

I love it.

They should really work on their facial expressions, the characters' blank faces while talking never match the emotion in their voices.

Looks so amazing, easily game of the year material.

Wow...

Does anyone know if we need knowledge of the other 2 fallout games to understand whats going on in this one? Because that looks amazing.

I just hope they don't have the same terrible popping up and LOD on their terrain as their did in Oblivion.

Well, given the right mods, STALKER can go from frustrating and tedious to quite fun and very enjoyable. Now STALKER: Clear Sky is coming out soon, but I expect it to be a bloody mess of bugs and gameplay problems before it can be modded to greatness.

If I'm going to get Fallout 3, I'm thinking I'm going to stay away from the console versions. Oblivion was a boring and often annoying headache before mods starting coming in.

A little too much like Oblivion.

That looks like Deus Ex meets Bioshock.

Which makes me want to hug it.

As far as I know, it's set on the opposite side of America to the first two (East coast as opposed to West), with few links to the previous games. There'll probably be a few references for fans to look for, but I'm sure things like who the Enclave and the Brotherhood of Steel are and such will be explained during the game for newcomers.

Wow. Fallout 3 just went straight to the top of the games I'm looking forward to list.

It looks nice but I agree with Chaz, too much oblivion.
Being similar to oblivion isn't entirly a bad thing but it seems like it has oblivion's downsides aswell like the facial animation that Zell mentioned.

Watching those vids felt more like I was watching a sequel to oblivion than a completely different game.

The combat did look cool. It doesn't seem to have the ambiance and fear that STALKER has, but I would buy it.

I think the targeting system thing looks a bit silly, I think I'll play the game without it.

Yeah the targeting system makes the game way too easy. They should just work on making the gunplay more FPS-ish.

2008-08-31, 2:30 PM #21
Er, I was under the impression that the VATS targeting works the same way the called shots from previous games did. You get a % chance to hit the particular part you're aiming for (smaller body part = harder shot), so you can still miss using VATS. I imagine the gameplay videos show it being successful more often than not because, let's face it, we want to see people getting mercilessly blown/shot/punched apart (Power Fist!). Then again, I haven't been reading any articles about the game, just watching videos, so perhaps you guys know something I don't?

I may wait for some texture packs. Xbox textures = fail.
