Physics-related quotations

Okay, so I'm on the exec for our Physics & Astronomy Society and for some reason I've been tasked with designing our hoodies and t-shirts (I'm not sure why, I'm the treasury. It's never a good idea to have a theorist as a treasury, even less so as a graphic designer!).

Our collective creative input has determined that on the front we will have 'Lancaster University - Physics & Astronomy Society' and on the back we will have some sort of logo and some witty/geeky physics-related quote. For this, I could very much use your input! I have a few of my favourite examples, but you can probably do better. I haven't decided whether it ought to be funny, or profound, or both.

"Heisenburg rules... probably" - Unknown
"All science is either Physics or stamp collecting" - Ernest Rutherford
"Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine." - Sir Arthur Eddington
"You can always tell a physicist, but you can't tell him much." - Unknown
"In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order." - Carl Jung
"It should be possible to explain the laws of physics to a bartender." - Albert Einstein

As for Physics-related logos, I'm completely stumped. The best I can think of is some stylised picture of Gordon Freeman (like the spraypaint), as he is a theoretical physicist and it'd probably sell well to geeky Physics undergrads. I've tried to reduce the awesome picture of the LHC down to two colours, but it's sort of hard to tell what it's supposed to be.

Did any of you guys have University society clothing, and what did it look like?

I remember a good quote from my old physics teacher back in highschool:

"In college, you can tell what major a science student is in by asking how he would kill a frog [for experiments]. A biology student would use a knife to carefully cut out a major internal organ while a chemistry major would kill it with the right amount of ether. The physics guy would just throw the frog off a roof."

is what my physics society did, we tried to think of something witty but failed, so we stuck the web address on instead.

I have enough "witty" tops from the rowing team anyway :D

and your at Lancaster, damn, I work with two people from there.

Just do shirts with a picture of Gordon Freeman in the style of those Che Guevara shirts.

Agreed, Kyle.

I believe that a scientist looking at nonscientific problems is just as dumb as the next guy.

Philosophers say a great deal about what is absolutely necessary for science, and it is always, so far as one can see, rather naive, and probably wrong.

Physics is to math what sex is to masturbation.

Physics is like sex: sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it.

All Feynman.

Okay, I have a request, you guys have better graphic design skillz than I do. Can you take this image and reduce it to as few colours as possible?

http://supercomputing.fnal.gov/SC2006/images/Atlas_0511013_01.jpg

Preferably red and white, and I have to pay more for extra colours (but if it looks significantly more awesome with more colours, it'll be ok). Can I make it look more like a sketch somehow? How would I do this?

Spent 30 seconds in photoshop to do these:

In white, red, dark red (3 colors):

In black, red, dark red (3 colors):

I prefer the black myself :/

And define "color." Are screens allowed? How exactly is the shirt being printed?

Anyway, here's a straight-up black and white one. The black can represent any ink color you'd like. 1-color is pretty cheap, right? I have a print shop friendly image if you decide to go in this direction.

That looks like a really complicated image for a t-shirt, and I think a stylized one is likely going to look like the Imperial symbol...
